Best music venues in the DFW area? (smaller, ie bars/clubs etc)

I'm not talkin about Verizon or AA or anything like that. My band has played all over denton and some in the Dallas area, but I wanted to know if any of you guys knew any bars/clubs that are fit for good rock music? I'm talking, good sound system, good sized stage, and that kinda thing. I honestly know nothing about the bars in lower greenville or ft worth (we've played rockyard and aardvark and that is in FW). Hell, anywhere in a 80 mile radius of Denton would be fine. We've played down in Deep Ellum a good amount. We just need to start branching out to places we haven't been before. Also if any of you can help us out with a good show let me know -sig check for band myspace- TIA guys

Hailey's in Denton gets my vote for 2nd best venue in the Metroplex. It's a small club, decent sound (you're not going to find great sound in a small club... stop looking), nice selection of beers, good prices and cool people.

Nokia is first as the sound there is nothing short of incredible.

FWIW.....All Good Cafe is a nice venue, but the sound system hoovers. Sons of Hermann Hall is a great place, good system. Poor Davids Pub...big open room...killer sound. J & J in Fort Worth, small room, tight sound...always a good place to play.
just my .02

maximedia studio is a good place to play. huge stage, dressing room, decent sound.
but it's in a warehouse district so there's no walk up, and it's hard to get people to go there.

Ridglea Theater puts on some really good shows, the sound is decent and they can pack in a pretty good crowd. The Cult and Ministry have played there in the last year.

Firewater is another nice venue, especially if the weather is good and they can use the outdoor stage. It's a little bit more upscale than most smaller rock venues but they let the small bands play.

I've seen tons of shows at the Wreck Room, it's a dump but the sound is okay and it's hard rock/punk. Tons of different beers and last time I was there they had a 1 legged bartender, can't go wrong!

They'll book anyone willing to pay to play.

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land." Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said,"Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the Promised Land." Now Obama has stolen your shovel..., taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

The Flying Saucer is a pretty cool place as well. My friends' band plays there every month as they have a contract with the owner. They're always looking for additional bands to play other days though. ..... some places that may or may not have been mentioned (didn't really read the replies) .... Green Elephant, Aardvark, Ridglea, lots of clubs in Deep Ellum, I'll think of more later.

Yep.
I like rubber gloves, I don't know why, but I do, never been to hailey's, but will on the 4th.(I'm going to try to bring the gf, Geof, lol)

Red blood club in deep ellum is decent, but kinda small, both doors are good. Man, I miss trees now.

gypsy was better, but that got shut down too!

as for the red blood, that's more of a hardcore venue. or at least that's all i ever hear about.
