rather odd question about cleaning brass

I bought a live .50 BMG round yesterday, for the shear kick azz affect. I want to polish the brass casing and possibly the projectile itself. How is the best and safest way to go about this? Everything I have read online pertained to cleaning brass for reloading.

Also, are there any steps (other than polishing) I should do to this cartridge to insure I don't blow myself to kingdom come.

Just hit it with a polishing wheel? Dont forget to wear gloves otherwise you will tarnish the brass/copper. Give it a clear coat if you want it to stay shiney. There's really no chance of setting it off unless you nail the primer.

Thanks for the reply. I do have a polishing wheel mounted to a motor/stand. I loaned it out to a friend years ago and forgot all about it.
