Question Looking for a .45 Cal

I'm looking to buy a good .45 Cal. My brother has a couple of Colt 45 1911's and they are great guns but cost around a $1k. I have also been looking at the CZ 97B. It looks like a very nice gun. Anyone have the CZ 97B? what other 45's would yall recommend?

if you want a 1911, look into the springfields. they are great guns and can be found cheaper than the colts. i have a para 1911 that i have been having some trouble with, so i cannot recommend those. if not stuck to 1911, also check out the springfield xd line of .45's

i sound like a damn springfield commercial.

god bless.

Depends on what you plan on using it for. If it's going to be mostly a range gun, and home defense (think nightstand gun) I'd recommend something full size, like the CZ 97B. I don't have one but have shot one, and I liked it.

I keep a full size 5" Springfield XD .45ACP at the house as a nightstand gun.

If you eventually plan on getting a CHL and having something to carry, I'd look for something in a compact (4") size. Can't go wrong with an XD, glock, most 1911's.

I have owned so many different Springfield's it's ridiculous. I love them! Great reliability, decent price ranges. I can find XD's in the $400 to $600 dollar range all the time, and you can spend a pretty penny on their 1911's if ya feel the need. I carry an SA Lightweight Champion Operator every single day.

I'm not getting a CHL this gun is just to keep in the truck and at home not to carry on me. So I want a full size not sub compact.

I'm not set on the 1911 but I do want a full size gun... I had a Taurus 9mm a while back and it was a good gun just not too accurate. Anyone shot a Berretta P4 Storm .45?

1911 are nice and it seems their value holds up decently.

In my experience buying a gun is like a car. Buying a new one, you'll be taking a hit if you decide to sell it. Buy used... it'll be fine and you should be able to sell it for what you bought it for, or make a little money.

If you're not stuck on the 1911, you should look into Kyle's advice and check out the XDm, they are solid handguns.

You should making a shooting GTG at a range and have some folks come out to bring their firearms. Just bring some ammo and shoot different things to see what you like.

Are you stuck on a 45? I kind of like the 40 caliber... cheaper bullets, more capacity, and it'll still drop someone in their tracks.

I would suggest looking into citadels or metroarms american classic II for a 1911. Citadel can be found for under $500 usually and so can the metroarms. Both really nice pistols.

Cz's are great pistols! Have shot that one and it is great. I own a cz 75 9mm and love it. I also love springfields. I own a springfield xd .45 and it is my duty pistol. No other pistol I would trade it for. Reliable, great shooting, high mag capacity, and fits my hand great make it my favorite pistol.

I agree with this. I picked a Springfield Ultra compact 1911 in stainless at a pawn shop not too long ago for $450 out the door. No problems yet. Its double stacked too, and I havnt seen another like it.

A friend of mine was given a Rock Island and really likes it. I hear they are good shooters and rarely have issues.

I've got a Springfield XD Stainless and a Sig Sauer 1911 XO both in .45acp. I have no complaints about either gun, very good shooters and no issues. I think I paid about $550 for the XD and upper $700's for the sig. The XD probably has about 1000+ rounds through it over the last 4 years.
