Rock Island is the Kia/Hyundai of 1911s. They are inexpensive and work okay, but they are in no way flashy. The resale on them isnt good either from what I have seen on gun classifieds.

thanks man, i know they arent top shelf by any stretch, but was just wondering if they are reliable. there is one for sale on txchl for like $400, i was considering. i have the itch for another 1911 in compact flavor. i will prolly keep looking. i havent been impressed with my para, wont shell out the $ for a kimber, so maybe i should start looking at springer, or spend some $$$$ for a STI

god bless.

For the money, I honestly think that springfield is unbeatable. You can get a base model GI for around $500, and a mil spec (flared ejection port, better sights, etc) for a bit more. You can also convert them to fire 45 super with ease.

Also, what is wrong with your Para? I thought that you had a gunsmith work on it a bit, is it still giving you problems?

i dropped it off at the gunsmiths on June 30th at the sametime every other asshole in the world was dropping off their hunting rifles. i am going to call again today and if it is not ready i am going to just pick it up this week. i think 3 months when originally told 8weeks which i thought was long to begin with is plenty of time.

god bless.
