Texas requires range time and that you are actually in the class the answer is probably no.

I'm sure soon there will be an online course followed by a classroom test and range time. Much like current hunter education classes.

My uncle in Pennsylvania said all he had to do was go to the local courthouse and sign up. Thats it.

GA was $40 and included fingerprints when I was there and VA waives the test if you are a vet with your DD214. I looked into it before I ended up in MD now I am just waiting on the lease to end so I can move to VA or back to TX.

I got mine in 2006 in WA. I went to the Sheriff's Dept and filled out a form. They did my fingerprints, checked to make sure I wasn't a felon or convicted of domestic violence. Paid $60 and it was in the mailbox the next week.

just because Austin agrees to recognize licenses from residents of other states doesnt mean Austin cant or wont change they law so that your chl has to come from the state where your primary residence is. I believe there has already been some rumblings in Austin about it.
