Done with Glocks, new carry gun

Not hating on Glocks, just wasn't planning on this happening and I'll pick up another Glock soon (G23). I sold my G27 a few weeks ago because I wanted to get a G23 with the light rail on it. Was planning on getting one earlier this month for my birthday but I came across a deal for a Kimber Ultra Carry II with a Crimson Trace grip that I couldn't turn down (thanks Matt!).

After selling the G27 I've been carrying either my G22 or my Kimber Custom Classic II for concealed carry including a trip to South Texas and carrying the Kimber through the summer heat. Not bad bad but not perfect either. I've been carrying the Ultra Carry for a couple of weeks now and I've gotta say it's almost perfect. It's got some sharp edges on it and I'm worried about sweat and carrying it in an IWB holster messing up the finish. I still want a 23 for more capacity and the light rail but I'm in no rush now.

So I have the G22 as my night stand gun and was planning on keeping it till my best friend told me he was looking for a gun due to some trouble in his neighborhood (break ins and kids vandalizing property). He's been looking at guns and figured I'd offer him the 22. He's shot it and comfortable with it and I'm giving him a pretty good deal. So I'll be Glockless, more than likely, by the end of the day and this will be the first time I've been without a Glock in close to 18 years. It'll also be the first time I haven't owned a .40 S&W handgun in over 10 years (and I've got a bunch of .40 S&W ammo stocked).

So here are the pics. It's pretty damn compact, sorry no Dr. Pepper can for comparison.

Very nice! Since picking up my Custom CDP II, I've been thinking about picking up an Ultra.

Junk. Don't you know Kimbers are junk? Because they are, they're junk.

Just kidding, awesome gun. I'd have one if I could bring myself to pay for it...

Awesome Jose.

Ive always just wanted to shoot one of those with the laser on it.

What kind of life do the batteries have?

This is your second kimber as well correct? How do you feel its fit and finish is to your older kimber. The pre series 2 guns just look like they really got worked over by hand vs the newer items.

I really like my pro cdp over the stainless uc2 i had.

What you might call solitude is something i look forward to.

No idea on the battery life, I probably won't use it much but it's a nice "deterrent" if looking at the big .45 ACP barrel doesn't strike the fear of God into somebody. Haven't had a chance to make a trip to the range yet (which I should be kicking myself for not having done so and still trusting it for carry) but hopefully that will change this weekend. Fit is pretty tight right now compared to my Custom Carry II but I'm sure that will be changing as I start putting some rounds down range. The slide is pretty tight as well as the safety. The take down procedure is different as well and I need to start practicing it. Don't care much for the magazines and I'll soon be replacing them with Wilson mags. Fortunately I've got at least half a dozen Wilson 8 round mags for my CC II and they fit fine in the UC II (they stick out just a bit but doesn't affect conceal carry IMO) if I need an extra round.

Damn thats real nice Jose, I should have bought the Kimber UC II when I was at Cabelas in Jan. It was used and it was proced just right. Only .45 i have ever owned was a Ruger P-series and that thing sucked, haha!

<-----Glock owner for life. You just cant beat it for light weight carry.

It's pretty intimidating but still feel it doesn't replace practicing at the range. Hopefully I'll be able to shoot a couple of hundred rounds this weekend and start checking for reliability.

Jose, is that sticker wear from a holster? It had never seen a holster and I thought the sticker was pristine when I sold it.

Nice gun, but I agree the sticker needs to go. Do not shine lazer into eyes? In order to do so, you would be pointing the barrel in your face, lol. I would be more worried about the gun than the lazer!

It had less than 30 rounds fired through it. Basically it was new.

The MSRP on that gun is almost $1,400.
