I really wish people in general, but more specifically gun owners, wouldn't use the phrase "Assault Rifle"...

Agreed, but it's at least better than calling an AR15 a "machine gun"

Well an AR15 is a gun, and it is a machine, why can't it be a machine gun? Haha

I dunno, I guess you are right but it is a very close second in my book.

He needs one of those Soviet underwater assault rifles...

Technically you are right, select fire would make it an "assault rifle", and in that case I guess it would be fine, same with Machine Gun. I think most of the time the term is just used to ruffle feathers by stupid reporters holding semi-auto rifles, that grinds my gears. Same with magazine and clip.

I guess I should say I wish people would learn to use the words correctly or not at all.

a few months ago i did some basic reading on some frog-on-frog warfare.

Talk about completely frightening combat.

The Soviets and then latter on the russians had several underwater engagements, one in russia and one in south america that were notable.

While you're on this, it really bothers me when people tell me they have NOS (Nossss) and their system is not even N.O.S. brand. Why not just go ahead and say nitrous oxide.

Pistol Bullets go farther underwater than a rifle. (Rifle bullets travel so much faster they tend to rip themselves apart.).

I'm NOT shooting any of my guns underwater. I've just seen tests where they fire guns into water and a pistol always goes further. (Rifle bullets literally explode within like 8" of water).
