AR 15 question which one?

Im looking at some ar's. I think I have narrowed it down to a Rock River LAR-15 Tactical Operator 2 or a Smith And Wesson M&P.

Anyone have one or the other. let me know what u think about it. The rock river that I am looking at starts in at about 1100.00. The M&P is just short of 1400.00 but u get 5 Mags. 1400.00 seam a little high but I guess thay have a few models.

thinking hard about an M1A springfield as well but I know 223 rounds are cheaper than 308 rounds.

Ill be picking one in a week or two, so I have some time to make up my mind.

Any info would help
Thanks
Gabe

Buy the Springfield Armory M1A. At the range I get all all sorts of people drooling over mine. An AR-15, no one will pay you any attention.

You can buy AR's under 1000, and they perform well. Hell you can buy anything for a AR to upgrade it to what you want.

A 308 isn't that expensive if you reload.

Out of the options you have presented, I'd go with the Rock River just because it's cheaper. 5 mags don't cost $300. Are there any other options the S&W has that the RRA doesn't?

All those prices seem a little high. I got into my S&W for around $900 and it was a detachable carry handle carbine. The AR15 is like the Mustang of the gun world these days. If you don't have Shelby Cobra money right now you can get a GT and build it up to where you want. You have a greater appreciation for it and how it works konwing that you modded it yourself.

If you had to choose from those two and those two prices go the RR route and spend that extra coin on ammo and widgets for your new toy.

Academy has an optics ready MP15 for ~$800, then S&W has a $100 mail in rebate, or 5 mags. So for ~ $700 you can get a M&P and have $ left over to mod.

Another option is to check out some shops and see what they have in stock. I've seen several with nicely optioned AR's for those prices.

Just the two I have been looking at. Did you have any thoughts on other brands.
Or was this just to add to your post count. JK...

I would just get a standard, I like the long barrels for distance shooting (which is the reason I would get an M1A in the first place).

I love my M&P, but there's no way I would pay $1400 for one.

I just built a complete lower with 6 position stock for $189. I know it's a good deal, but you can come pretty close.

Then get a quality upper and you can have a damn good AR for about $750.

New mags can be found for about $7 each.
