Need quick advice on a trade

I picked up a S&W 637 about 2-3 weeks ago and am just not feeling it. I have an offer from someone who lives 5 min from me.

What I have:

S&W 637, 30 rounds of .38, IWB holster, soft zipper case

He has:

Springfield XD45 in box with all XD gear that comes with it.

His TGT Ad:

http://texasguntrader.com/index.php?a=15&b=63493

What kind of cash should I offer on top of my revolver to make things even? I want to be fair but not get raped.

Depending on the condition of the smith I'd offer even up. If he wants cash on his end tell him to name a figure just to see where he is on it.

I'd say any more than $50 and I'd ask for some KY.

$500 for a used XD is insane! Not a chance in hell he would ever get it unless it was a felon that cant buy new.

I was hoping I would too. But I guess I am just a semi-auto guy.

And $500 is "insane"?

Even though it is a the .45 model?

Edit: Lol, Offered him $100 cash plus the revolver and gear and he flat out told me no...I hope it takes him weeks to sell his...

$500 is ridiculous for a brand new XD-45 let alone a used one. I'd say used for used it's an even trade.

You can get an XD-45 at gun shows for well under $500.

Edit: I just read where he turned you down. P.T. Barnum said that a sucker is born every minute and he may find one.

Well I appreciate the quick and insightful advice the armory members have provided.

It would have been nifty to add the XD45 to the safe where my XD9 resides, but I guess I will just see what other offers come along.

Still kind of kicking myself, someone offered a straight trade for a nice Glock 22, but I delayed in getting back to him, so the deal fell through.

Well man am I glad I didn't do that trade.

Was contacted last night and had a guy offer me a Bushmaster AR-15 for some of my XD9 Gear, plus a bit of cash on top and my S&W 637. Basically the value of what I gave him totalled $640 for a barely used, excellent condition Bushmaster.

Things happen for a reason I guess!

Thanks, I'm stoked as the last AR I bought cost me $800 and was a no-name brand. I'm heading to CTD this weekend to get a Riser, red dot and a rear flip up sight.

Plus some guy in Mansfield is selling AR mags for $8/ea

Now to find some ammo...
