I want a 10/22...

but the length of pull is about a foot short. Anyone recommend any adult size stocks for one of these things?

They make a sporter version. Not the regular carbine for a few bucks more.

What you might call solitude is something i look forward to.

Nevermind looked them up. Still the same overall length it looks like. I dont mine the short rifles. being short its hard to find a rifle/shotgunstock that fits right.

I'm 6'5. I don't know what my "Actual" length of pull is supposed to be, but I know it's a hell of a lot longer than most of the rifles I pick up. Feels like I'm being all CQB when I shoulder most rifles.

I have the *i wants* bad. Damn the gun shows for never having anything but plastic pistols and AR15s.

Everyone needs a 10/22. Its as simple as that. Go check out some at cabella's. and see how the sporter stock feels. I'm telling you its a better feeling rifle than the carbine. It feels like a rifle instead of a kids club to me imho.

Its nice to sit at the range and spend 5-10 bucks vs 100-300.

I will say this tho. If you can find a pre 2008 buy it instead. All the newer ones everything is plastic. Pre 2008 have alot better built quality. I've got a mid 70's carbine waiting for me as soon as i drive down and get it.

What you might call solitude is something i look forward to.

I've got AMT's version of it (basically a full stainless version with folding stock from factory, it's copied right off the ruger, AMT was sued over it). It has a nice feel and like stated above fun to shoot.

Length of pull is not an issue when shooting a .22lr.

If you are that concerned with it. Get a nice wooden stock, cut the stock add a wooden spacer and sand down to match. I have seen that a few times. Never on a .22 but to each their own.

I have a Hogue overmold for my wife's 10/22. She is considerable shorter than I am and we can both shoot is just fine.

It's a comfort concern, and the difference of your face damn near touching the back of the receiver vs shooting a rifle that fits.

Pete I get the comfort and shooting a rifle that fits but then again we are talking about a .22. I can't say that I ever felt that my cheek weld vs length of pull on my 10/22 was affecting my groups at 50yrds. Now if we are talking about further out or higher power then ya, my McMillian A5 .308 has adjustable length of pull and adjustable cheek weld.

Now that I think about it there is a guy that makes a knock off McMillian A5 for the 10/22.

I'm a pretty big guy as well and this was an issue for me. I purchased the tapco adjustable stock and it gave me the length I needed. I suggest you visit cabelas or ctd and look at the stock in person. I purchased my stanless 10/22 at academy about a year ago and it was 249, I believe the base models were going for 199.

I saw one for $189, std blue and wood stock, with box; would have bought it if I didn't already have one just like it. Saw a nice used one walking around, he wanted $175, it looked like new except for aminor scratch on the stock. Saw a couple in the 229 - 250 range and a lot in the 300
+ range.....

I picked up two 10/22 at Dick sporting goods in Denton for 179. They are the standard issue blued models, but still better than cabelas and academy.

Newbies, please watch THIS before posting.
