XD .357 Sig or .40?

Looking to buy a hand gun for a chl

I have shot my buddys glock .357 sig which was nice, but I am looking to buy the XD for myself...Which do yall perfer the .357 or .40. Isnt the ammo for the .357sig a little more expensive and a little harder to find?

Thanks

It is both. Go with the .40, you'll be glad you did.

Well a little more... In sub compact form you get 3 extra rounds in 9mm over .40 (13 vs 10). If you go with .40 you can get conversion parts to make a 9mm or .357 sig in the same pistol...

Buy the 40..

Then Buy the conversion barrel for the .357 Sig and the 9mm Sig... It must be the conversion barrel.

You'll have 3 calibers in the same gun. Plus they all use the same mags.

A Glock 22 mag will hold 9mm rounds. Not sure how well it would feed or if the XD mags would hold them though...

a .45 is just a hand cannon. Just a little too much

Yes you can, but it is recommended to use the correct magazine when doing the conversion... Honestly I wouldn't rely on a converted .40 for self defense, but if you wanted to go shoot some paper with 9mm its fine. Even with using all the correct parts, people would still have issues with it being 100% reliable. It seems that there are some differences with the extractor and ejector that require tweaking to solve all the problems.

Best prices seem to be at gun shows for the XD's lately... but Budsgunshop is usually really competitive, and I noticed that Elk Castle in west Fort Worth had good prices on their XD's, if you wanted something local.

BTW: my XD9sc has become my favorite pistol by far. I'm thinking about picking up its .40 twin soon

My wife has a XD.40 and I did have a XD .45. The 40 always seemed to have more muzzle flip to me. The XD .45 fit my big hands better.

I have a XD .45 Compact but don't use it for concealed carry. I plan on getting a XD 9mm Sub Compact to carry.
