XD Magazine

I having problems with my XD .45. The magazine is very hard to release when I have the 12 round in. But the 10 round releases very easy. I have to push the button with both hands to get the 12 round to drop down. What can be causing this?

Are both mags empty when trying this?

Did you just buy this weapon? Mine was the same way when I first bought mine, it seemed to loosen up after a while. I also had a mag ext on mine and it was the same way at first with 17 in the mag, then seemed normal. Just my $.02...

Some mags are just tight. Push up on the base of the mag before hitting the mag release.

I haven't tried it with the magazine unloaded yet. But, it was working fine before. It's about 1.5 years old. I only have about 150 rounds through it.

My XDm does the same thing if I have 16 rnds in it, if it's 15 it's no problem.

If I put 16 in and rack one then it releases fine.

For those having problems with "tight" mags.

Load them to capacity and leave them that way for a few weeks ... they will loosen up.

Mine has been loaded to capacity for a few months. When I push the magazine up & then hit the release button it works a lot better. I wasn't having this problem before. I was very easy to drop the magazine with either 10 or 12 round mag.

XD uses double wond springs so they don't wear out as fast but the springs are stiff as shit.like said above put rounds in it spent ones if possible put a couple drops of lube in and set it in the sun for a couple hours it will allow the spring to be malable and load easier.works with my m16 clips at work.

Dont need to do all that jazz. Just load to capacity and let them sit anywhere for a few weeks. Hell you can even keep it in the gun, just make sure that you top the mag off again if you chamber a round.

Mags.

Also, lube in a mag is just asking for dirt to stick to it.

Mine has been loaded like that for a year plus and is still difficult.

Mine has the same issue but who cares? I won't have to drop a full mag quickly, only an empty one.

If it's a big problem just keep one less round in the mag.

Put used brass in it and throw it in a toaster oven.
