New Handgun (finally)

Well, I finally got a new handgun. After going to 3 different gun shops in waco looking for an HK with no luck, I drove up to Dallas and stopped off at Bachman Pawn on route to my mom's birthday dinner. Many of you saw my original HK drooling thread where I posted an MK 23, and several of you told me to just settle with a full size USP 45 instead.

After holding each, everyone was right. I ended up walking out with this, its an HK USP 45 full size. It fits my hand great, and I cant wait to shoot it!

Having never owned a really nice handgun before, I am pretty proud of this thing. Also note, that even the USP dwarfs my hand, and I have some pretty big mitts!

The price at Bachman with cash was $799, but since I had to use a card I paid $830. It was $900 with tax.

Those are great guns!

I could picture myself shopping for a birthday gift for someone else and then buying myself something nice at Bachmann's instead. Hopefully that's not what you did though.

Saw them at the Fort Worth gun show for around $650 cash or credit. Saw a couple used for around $600. I do like Bachman pawn though. Great shop he's got there.

One of the dealers told me demand on the HK has driven the price up some over the last year or so. Still...I think he got raped at straight MSRP on that one. There were some less than pristine ones that were going in sub $500 range. I cant badmouth Bachman pawn though. I got a screamin' deal on a SIG P225 when they were really high.

What I paid is a fair price for the 45. For some reason, the 45 models cost a bit more coin than the 9mm and 40 cal versions. I did quite a bit of looking online at prices before I bought.

Just an FYI...if you got an invoice w/ a credit card surcharge written on it, call your CC co. and dispute it and it will be refunded. It's against Visa/Mastercard's merchant policy to surcharge a customer for the use of a CC.

One time they charged me for a gun, and once I got back to my house I saw it was $100 cheaper than what it was suppose to be. My invoice also reflected that (the one I signed) and they called me up for the other $100 the next week. I went ahead and paid it, but that is a little bit ridiculous as far as accounting goes.

LOL! Well that was awfully nice of you to give them the money. I have bought a couple of firearms from Bachman over the years, IMO they are good people to deal with and the staff is always helpful.

It's really not a bad deal for a local gun purchase. Bud's Guns has them for $770 delivered plus when you add the transfer fees, it would have been around $790-$800 mark. Just think of it as supporting a Texas based business...

I've only shot one from a rental place, and it was shot to death but I still hit well with it and liked it.
