I'm looking to pick up a nightstand gun for the apartment. I'm looking for something around $300 that my girl wont have trouble shooting. Been looking at Keltec P-11's, Ruger LCP, and Taurus Millennium pro 9mm. Anything else I should look out for? I've never been to a gun show before...are the prices usually cheaper than in store?

How come people even have to go to a gun show instead of just going to a shop? Is it because of the legal issues?

No difference in legal issues. It's more of a one shop stock, everything under one roof, guns, gear, ammo, comparison shop, haggle ect. I go to buy ammo that you can't find at any retail store. I've never bought a gun at a "gun show".

I saved 70 bux on the gun I wanted at the show today. I had been looking at M&P compacts...best price I found was at Bachman(499). I got it this morning for 430. S/W also has a $50 rebate now. It was worth it to park and pay to get in.

Most shops don't stock everything under the sun and the ones that do are generally massively over priced.

didn't david koresh go to alot of gun shows? I would be willing to bet there are atleast 2 undercovers at each one of those.
if enforcing gun laws was my job, I would be there writing down licence plates.

So? Whats your point?

Other than to drag up the fact he was attacked by the federal government for no reason?

All men should know Honor first, above all else!

Honor is not holding your hand out for something you did not earn.
Honor is not forcing your ideas, or belief on others.
Honor is not something given to you by way of job, or title.

Honor is learned, earned, practiced and respected by all decent men and women.

The standards for purchase of a firearm at a gun show are the same as those in a gun shop.

My point is if I wanted to find any militant groups, that would be a good place to start. I wouldnt even go in I would just watch the parking lot and see how many people are coming out with guns, ammo and how much they are carrying. Is it a man with his son or is it 4 adult men carrying more than they could ever need for themselves. Copy down there license plate number and a brief description of each person. I wouldnt use that information by itself but when you cross reference it with anything else you might have something to look into a little more. just sayin
Any federal agents on this board to comment?

So how long do you have to wait before you can come pick up a gun from the gun show after you apply?

There's no waiting period in Texas. They do an instant check and you leave.

There is an instant criminal background check that is operated (I think) by the FBI that will allow a purchaser to leave the show with their firearm. That's the way it is currently with handguns at least. Also, a valid CHL holder can do the same without going through the above check at the Fort Worth shows that I have been at.

And if you walk into a gun shop do you have to wait a certain amount of time?

I went yesterday. Paying for parking was pretty lame, but luckily it was only $3 and I get into the show for free. Swapped out pistols to upgrade to a Springfield XD-9mm. Got it in the full size frame, since I'm not worried about concealing this one. I wouldn't really say I got a screaming deal on it, but it was nice to comparison shop. I saw maybe a few things that I thought were interesting, but other than a surplus holster I picked up cheap, nothing else really had me sold.

I doubt you'd get anywhere with this strategy. There are easier ways to stockpile arms than by visiting a gun show. By design you'd have a hard time carrying out more than a case of ammo or a couple of rifles.

I was looking for a 20 gauge for the wife and didn't find anything. Went to Academy and got her the Mossberg 500 youth 20.

I saw a copule of Ruger LCRs that I was intrigued by. Ultimately I walked because I really want a .357 and I think I would have regretted the purchase. Now I kinda wish I had gotten one. Oh well, maybe next show.

I saw some great deals on XD models. I saw a few Sub Compact .40s for $405.00

Never wrap it up, never pull out. Just grind up the morning after pill in her scrambled eggs at sunrise, she'll appreciate that you made her breakfast.

No doubt. I'm kinda kicking myself for not picking up one of those as well. I've had a XD-9 for close to 5 years and I couldn't be happier. I was just really indecisive yesterday.

Any federal agents on this board to comment?

On CSI that shit would work WONDERS... but you don't have to have a license to carry if all you're buying is shotgun, and who are you to police everyone going to see what all the hub bub is about?

I can see where you ruffle a LOT of feathers. If you are going to share your views, be prepared that others view will not always be of like kind and quality.

I am unaware of your age, but I can tell your thought process is attempting to make sense..... it's just a little too soon I guess, because there are serious flaws in your theory

If I were an officer, I would always sign up for the gun show side jobs. Its like getting paid for something that I would be doing anyway!

I'm planning on hitting the range with it tomorrow, weather permitting. I'll post up a review after I put some down the pipe. People at the show couldn't say enough good things about the newer FNP series FN Herstals. The hammer forged barrel and ease of field stripping really has me sold on the design. It feels like a SIG but lighter, especially since they incorporated the de-cocking option on the safety mechanism. I got the SA/DA model.

I like going to the local gun shows because I can. I like to look at all the cool shit that I can't afford and I was able to pick up an A.R.M.S sight that I was looking for. I also did my yearly contribution to the NRA. All in all it was a good day for my wife and I.

No Militia group I know of, is hiding anything they do. And we really don't care who is hiding and taking notes, or pictures like little bitches gossiping

All men should know Honor first, above all else!

Honor is not holding your hand out for something you did not earn.
Honor is not forcing your ideas, or belief on others.
Honor is not something given to you by way of job, or title.

Honor is learned, earned, practiced and respected by all decent men and women.
