Why is it SO hard to pull the trigger?

Usually every Friday night I am tearing it up online in Killing Floor or BFBC2 or some other game and will quit around 2 am and drag myself off to bed.

Its these nights where I have vivid dreams I am having to defend myself from some home intruder or something else that is trying to attack my family or myself...yet whenever I pull my pistol it feels like it has an 80 pound spring on it and I can never fire the stupid thing!

Why is it so hard in the dream!? Anyone else have these types of dreams? It drives me nuts when I can't go bat#$# on the bad guys in my own dreams!

On a sidenote, it's amazing what violent video games before a deep sleep can do to ones mind, I can almost guarantee you what I will dream about after a late Friday night online.

I would have a dream where the faster I try to run, the slower I go and the harder it is to run. Same thing when trying to punch, the harder I try to punch, the harder it is to move my arm and when I do make contact, there's no force.

I've had a similar problem in my dreams but it's whenever I'm trying to run. No matter how hard and how fast I try to run I'm just barely moving. Believe it or not you can actually develop paralysis temporarily while you sleep and in a dream you won't move. I've talked to a friend that's a counselor that studies sleep patterns and she said often times when you try to do something in a dream (me for instance being chased and not being able to run) and can't do it is because it's stress related. She said there's probably something in my life that I can't get away from and that I need to let go of. Now take that for what it is... I'd imagine it's different for everyone.

Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovel, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land." Nearly 75 years ago, Roosevelt said,"Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a camel, this is the Promised Land." Now Obama has stolen your shovel..., taxed your asses, raised the price of camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!

I have had a few gun-related dreams.

In one, me and my roommate were watching the news when it suddenly went to the emergency broadcast system. It was like-
*******We interrupt this broadcast due to a national emergency. The dead are coming back to life and attacking the living...**********
At this point, we were like "Fuck yeah, weve been waiting for this for years!" and went to the gun safe to get our guns out. At this point zombies started breaking into the house, but we realized that we didnt have any magazines loaded. It was a frantic scramble, I would put 3 or 4 rounds into my 92fs magazine, shoot them all and then have to do it again really quickly. Shit was scary.

After I woke up I went and loaded an ar15 magazine and put it next to my AR in the safe.

Yup... had dreams like that.

You punch someone, but it seems like you have no strength.
You run, but it seems you are slow.

Last one I remember I was at some apartments and my key fob let me know my alarm was going off. I ran to the truck and saw someone inside of it, the person sees me coming at him, gets out, and starts to run. I draw and I can't hit him for the life of me, then I woke up.

I've only had dreams where maybe I let someone live a little too long. Meaning, I really did not want to shoot them but at a certain point they would not take my warnings and would simply make the decision for me. I instantly fast forward to being in jail and convicted of murder, scared like a bitch. Not feeling bad since I knew I had no other choice but my country/justice system stuck it to my family and I. (w/o my income, lower standards of living...etc...etc)

Then I wake up. No matter how bad I felt like I shot though, the dude is always dead. Could shoot their big tow I'm sure and he'd be dead.

I dreamt I buried a corpse in my backyard once. Still don't know if it was real or not.

I don't want to find out what's under the recently disturbed earth by the wooden fence 9 paces from the backdoor beside the tree that we planted last year. Why does it make a hollow sound when you stomp on it?

I always have a Red Dawn dream, where the country is being invaded by a foreign nation. And I sit on the roof of my house at the end of a cul de sac with my .308 and pick off ruskies that wander into the street. Eventually they send a BMP and it usually ends with me jumping over fences, etc.

I don't know man... if we ever had a national alert that it was martial law, and we were getting invaded I would be so relieved of all stress in my life. I could just focus on killing people, as simplistic as life can be.

In my dreams, I don't even feel the trigger.... I just hear bang bang bang and see lots of bad guys dropping like flies. I can run faster and jump higher in my dreams too.

That's why I keep all my magazines loaded. I can grab my "bag" full of magazines, my a/r 15 and pistol and be ready with 300 rounds of 223 and 90 rounds of 9mm.

Watching movies like Zombieland, and I am Legend give me a means of escape, because there is no normal life.

I had a dream last night I was at a Academy/gun show and I found a awesome deal on a Rangefinder that also give you the temperature of what you were aiming at. I was looking thru it and pretending to be shooting some hispanic girls playing around a car.

Sounds like you guys are having trouble with penetration, which I understand all too well.

Every time those panties come off and I get it all lined up... BAM!

Fucking alarm goes off...
