They aren't bad guns. I have one. Shoots like it is supposed to. If I needed another one, I would buy it at that price.

DPMS makes a nice rifle, and for that price well worth it...

looks like a good deal to me!
the only thing i might wonder is if they are chrome lined.
i thought dpms wasn't , which might mean better accuracy ... at the cost of easy cleaning and longer lasting barrel.
i just don't have a use for .223 , and the fucking ammo is overpriced imo

That's right. And the idea is to attempt to build the most authentic M16A1 reproduction you can achieve. Time to build a piece of history.

It just feels like a cheap piece of shit. Not that any M16 platform doesn't feel that way. But the super shitty butt stock, pencil thin barrel, and easily breakable triangular hand guards aint helping it.

We had A1's in basic training back in 1993 and I tend to concur with David. At least they still had 'auto' unlike the A2's we carried after basic. One of our tasks to complete in basic was to run through 7 magazines as rapidly as possible on auto. Fun as shit. I was one of the few that did not have to perform SPORTS.

We had M16A2s issued in Marine Corps boot camp in 1987, but we had M16A1s when I was stationed at Company L, Marine Support Battalion located in Guantanamo Naval Air Station in Cuba later that same year.

Whereas the A1s are lighter and feel less substantial than the A2, the A1s sure were fun to burn through ammo.
