300 Meter Targets

A army buddy of mine told me to fins some 300 Meter Targets to scope in my New AR setup. All I found at Academy were 50 yd Bulls Targets.

What kind of targets should I buy and where can I buy them locally?

All you need are 1"moa targets (1" grids layed over a bullseye). 300m targets are nothing but small pictures that you set out 25m (?) to zero a weapon with. I am not a fan of them at all, it takes all the dope work out of the sights.

What sights/optics are you putting on the AR?

Yep, what he said....
They should have them at the range, but Academy should also carry them.

Take it to Alpine and pick up some targets there. Get the 1" squared stuff. Should be easy with that scope.....after it has been PROPERLY bore sighted that is.

Dope is the windage and elevation adjustments specific to the rifle, round and variables to target.

Start off at 100 and make sure you can get on paper and group consistently within 2" before you start plugging away at 300 and wasting your ammo.

I'd suggest 50 feet or 25 yards first, make sure you're dead center. If you do it right you should be able to zero at 100 yards in 4 rounds.

Well I went out to Alpine, and it was pretty much dead out there. I am still having problems with my AR cycling.

I spent the money on the gun range so I just pulled each round out myself. I got it sighted down to a 4 inch circle, but I am really uncomforatble sitting at the stand. I need a bipod and/or some smaller mags, or more time trying to be still.
