Which Rock River?

If you had $1200 to spend, which one would you get? Would be a target/varmit rifle.

They do make a good rifle. That will last a lifetime. Now with that said you can build a better rifle with better parts. I use a rra entry tac m4 as my varmit rifle haha. Nice and light easy to haul around and accurate.

It really depends on what your going to use it for. Where im hunting its a long walk and this winter it was waste high snow. If i would have had a 14 pound rifle on my shoulder with my other gear id say fuck it and stay home. Buy the right tool for the job

I'm saving for my upper to finish out my shtf rifle. I will say the finish on the rra lowers will take more abuse than the spikes. At least mine has.

Alot of people talk down on company's like rra, dpms, bushmaster and others. Lets all be honest here. I'm not going to shoot 20k rounds out of a hunting rifle in my lifetime. They will do the job and most owners like them. Its all about the coolaid.

With that said i'm still building a nice rifle about the same cost as my rra was. It will have a better trigger, better barrel, better bolt, better finish on the upper/barrel.

It is not hard to build. Even if you have your heart set on a rra rifle and want to save some cash build it. You will not get the lifetime warranty or the shitty blue case they come with tho.

What you might call solitude is something i look forward to.

Are you paying or is somebody else paying? If your paying do some shopping you can put together an AR for much cheaper.

RR does a good product, but in same breath so does every major manufacturer since every thing is built to milspec

I had an RRA lower that had an out-of-spec mag well...other than that it was excellent.

I would buy one that had a lifetime warranty if I wasn't building it myself. I know RRA and Stag offer lifetime warranties, DPMS, Bushmaster and the other major manufacturers may as well.

If I had $1200 to spend I would likely buy myself a Colt or even a new ruger SR556

The reason I shy away from RRA is the barrels are out of spec. The outer contour made it hell to get my railed handguards on there ... I dont even know if I could take them off if I wanted to.

Well, see, the only RRA thing on this particular rifle was the lower receiver...the LPK and everything else was from someone else. The mag well was just a hair too small. It wouldn't drop a fully loaded GI mag, it had to be ripped out. It worked just fine with P-Mags though.

One thing you also have to think about is resale value. Lets face it most of us buy and trade guns like cars. More people know colt, stag, rra, bushmaster, dpms, and so on.

You can show them a bad ass mil spec bravo company, noveseke, and all the other very good guns and they will think its a piece unless they have a little knowledge of the ar market.

When i had my spikes lower sent to my ffl he had never heard of them.

Buy or build what you need to do the job.

What you might call solitude is something i look forward to.

If i was just going to go to the counter and buy again id spend the extra couple hundred and buy a colt. Just for the resale value down the line.

I'd get a Colt or a Smith and Wesson Law Enforcement for that price.

My wife's RRA was only $700 with mags and optics.

For $1200 I would get a Larue upper, BCM, or Spikes.

For $1200 I'd get a Colt with an H-Bar......You can find some great deals on ar15.com and snipershide.com

You can certainly pick up a well built, gently used (200 rounds or less) weapon for $1200....

Anyone every heard of Deleware Machinery? Started looking into building my own AR and found some parts by them.
