I just picked up a 40 this week. Can't wait to take it out and give it a run. I've had a springfield 1911 I enjoyed but have never shot the XD series.

A dollar bill?

Should've at least compared it to a hunit. Sweet semi-auto.

i was shooting at some targets setup across the water.....they were like 30 yards away so needless to say....i didnt hit shit lol. i really just wanted to put some down the pipe and my buddy owns a some land out in Kennedale so i said fuck it. Ill be headed out to Winchester sometime soon.

I assume "cheap" ammo tends to be less accurate. Would do you guys recommend for a "more accurate target round?

dont take it personal, but it could just be you. i dont consider WWB and 'expensive' or a 'more accurate range ammo', but im pretty decent with it. if you cant shoot for crap then you just cant shoot for crap. also, switching from the extended clip to the shorter clip takes some getting used to. when i first got my xd9/xd40 i was more accurate with the extended clip due to actually having more gun in my hand. i've since forced myself to become a better shot with the short clip due to that's what i carry most of the time

but it just takes some practice and getting used to. or you can go buy a .22 and get a lot more practice for a lot cheaper. that's what i did and it's helped a ton

none of this post was meant in a negative way, just trying to point out what i went through when i first got my xd9

Yeah, in general it is not the gun or the ammo - it is the shooter.

A little tip that has been helping me is....

-Buy a pack of snap caps
-Don't look, mix them in with your magazine. i.e. if you have a 10rd mag, put 4 snap caps in with 6 rounds...mixed up. Don't look though.
-Take aim and shoot. Pay attention when it is a snap cap if you jerked at all. If moving the gun at all, it'll create problems with accuracy.

That and relaxing my grip a little more increased my accuracy drastically. I'm sure folks like propellerhead can offer a million tips, but for basic straight shooting those are mine. Past that for me, it was practice.

Then you can worry more about drawing from your holster faster, magazine changes...all that crap.

Must be their gun show price. I called them today and they told me $449.99+ tax (cash price). Maybe I'll have to wait until a gun show or just go see Dave at Alpine. It's 90 miles round trip to SAWZ.

Thanks for the info.

For $421.00 out-the-door, me wants one of those XD's.. SAW Inc is where I picked up my suppressors, but the main guy who runs it (Jeff Schramm) is a bit odd. They have decent prices, but their gun show price and their store front price are up to 15% different.

They are in Sunnyvalle of 80 & 'fuck if I remember'. I will buy from them again, and they are open Sunday's..!

Tried relaxing my grip on my subcompact Keltec PT11 and it started jamming to beat hell. Sometimes with the smaller framed semis such as this if you try to 'get too accurate' this will happen.

Aside from that these really small pistols such as this aren't meant for shooting at distance, which could be part of the ops difficulty as well...

Did you have hearing protection in? I saw you swipe your ear at the end. If not you should get in the habit. No sense in ruining your hearing while practicing.
