I think I paid $100 for the class and $150 for the license. Fingerprints were free and passport photos were like $6 at CVS. There are places that'll get you fingerprinted, photo'd and process your paperwork for you as well, but I am sure they cost more.

It was the better part of a Saturday for the classroom and range time. The license came about 4 weeks after I sent everything in.

Take a Utah non resident class. The license is reciprocal for many states, including Texas. The class is much shorter(4hrs), no range time, and Utah is $65. I paid 100 for the class(fingerprints included), 14 for a passport photo, and then 65 to Utah. Done in under 4 hrs.

Texas has just as many, if not more. Why don't you just put your monry into OUR State's program? Sounds like you went out of your way to save less than $100.

92GT is referring to Hairston's CHL classes based in Grand Prairie. He is certified to teach in Utah, Florida, and Texas. The Utah certification will cover the few states that don't recognize Texas, such as Washington State, Ohio, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and West Virginia. It would be good for those who travel there for work or family.

I already have the Texas, but plan on taking this class either in April or May.

Good point. I did it more for the time. I don't have a lot of free time on the weekends. That class was only 4 hrs and it was really close to the house.
