It depends on where i'm at. I do carry when i go fishing at a certain spot due to a mountain lion spotting. A guy was fishing on a small jon boat and it followed him around the pond for a long time. I dont have a boat so i always check for tracks on the walk in. Its a fluke if we get a lion around here but better safe than sorry.

If i had big handgun for deer season id take it. I think it'd be a blast to hunt with a handgun.

What you might call solitude is something i look forward to.

As stated above, always with hogs, usually its my .357. When it comes to something like dove though I rarely carry one. Just depends on the location.

If I am walking to my stand in the morning before light, or from my stand at night I will. If I drive the truck or Ranger I wont.
Always carry it when brush hunting anything.

I will carry when hunting considering most of the time we are hunting in northern nebraska, and when you have one run into the crp fields, they can be so dense you cannot bring a rifle. But as stated by others depends on when and where.

I do when I am hog hunting, but thats about it.

When romping around on some land or riding a horse in West Texas I will carry a pistol just in case I come across a pig.

Nope, I have always been conscious of shooting while near horses.

Although having a revolver on your hip while on horseback sure does make you feel like youve gone back in time. Very cool experience.

I was raised around horses the best way is to start out with blanks to get the horse used to it then go from there.

I always carry a handgun while hunting.

If you shoot a animal and if you come up on it, if its still alive, I'll shoot it with my handgun to put it out quickly. I'd rather do it with a handgun over a rifle, because a pistol bullet is A LOT cheaper than the rifle rounds I use.

I also carry a handgun because I've been charged by feral hogs before. Doesn't matter if I'm deer hunting, bird hunting, or going fishing, I'll have a handgun with me.

Only time I actually don't have a handgun on me is when I enter those places that have that 51% signs, the silly 30-06 signs (I just don't go in), schools, stadiums, six flags, etc...

Absolutely. If I ever get a close shot on deer, I want a pistol shot of 41 mag or 1911 45 ACP.

When living in Alaska, it was common to carry a revolver as backup for hunting. Some carried 1911. We even carried 22lr. In case the big game hunting went south, we could get a few ptarmigans.
