Awesome! I've always wanted one since I saw a special on them.. (future weapons or something)

In the test they were showing how affective they were in taking out a target behind steel.

They shot a 7.62x39mm (AK round) at a car and it didn't go through. The Grendal 6.5 sure as hell did.

I was going build a 458 but if you're going big you might as well go all the way. I've been waiting 4 months for my Beowulf barrel though.

You can get a SOCOM now! You have much more reloading options with the SOCOM.

Have you got ammunition?

I passed my 1 year order anniversary for some 334g boxed ammunition direct from AA. I nearly bought some off GunBroker, but it's selling for $2 a round.

$2. a. round.

Fuck me - I'm thinking about selling it but nobody is going to buy a rifle that has no ammunition supply

Thats right! That is why the SOCOM is much better. Even if you do not reload you can get 458 ammo at a bunch of places.

None, but i dont plan on blowing a bunch of rounds threw it either. When/If it ever gets build i'll reload the rounds. I know brass is hard to come by too. Midway sent me an email notice Monday about AA 50B 334 grain hollow points in stock. I didnt check but its probably gone by none.

As for factory rounds i know there is more suppliers for the 458 but it $50 to$60 a box of 20 compaired to $30. And last time i checked every one was back ordered on it too.

A jeweled AR bolt? Fucking classy!

EDIT: As for the ammo issue, Hornady is supposedly planning to load it for the masses, rather than simply co-pack it for AA like they've been doing. That should make AA's 6.5 and .50 offerings both more plentiful, and less expensive, and might even get some larger fish to bite. Also, Remington's got a UMC offering for its .30RAR, now. I'm kind of itching to try that.

Give me a dollar.

I'm thinking of doing a 6.8 SPC build since ammo is available albeit a bit pricey.

My contact at AA said they are actually overflowing on brass. What they are having a hard time getting or are having QC issues on are the primers.

(I should mention I'm only talking about the Beowulf .50 - I've had too much wine and can't tell if that's clear)

looks nice

curiosity ? for you - since i see a rear iron sight, why didnt you go a little longer on front rail to take advantage of longer sight radius (given the longer barrel) ?

the side charger upper will come in real handy if you upgrade to adjustable gas block & get a suppressor for it later on

Thats just the way it came but the rails are removable. PRI has a full length that i will be getting but its down on the list. It took the BUIS off another AR just so i can test fire it while i wait on the scope.

I'm interested in your hider/brake. I've heard a bunch of "urban tales" that the open ended brakes "Ping!" when fired. Curious if you see/hear the same.

6.5 Grendel is great round on paper. It is a PPC based round. 264 Les Baer is very similar, in fact you can shoot them both out of same gun.

Necking down the 6.5 Grendel to 6mm, you can turn it into a slightly higher velocity 87-108gr bullet 6mm AR Turbo 40.
