Question AR Scope mounting height question

My buddy wants a Red Dot sight on his AR. Looking for something with a small MOA.

He found an aimpoint comp m3, but it doesn't come with the mounting hardware. Question is, which height rings (low, medium, high,) does he need to mount the aimpoint to in order to co-witness the front sight and magpul rear?

My EoTech 512 was good to go from the box, so I'm not sure which way to go on his.

THANKS!!

I'm assuming this is an A3 receiver? You can use iron sights through EOTechs. Is he only wanting an aimpoint?

I am not partial to Aimpont at all. I am a novice when it comes to AR's.

I'd go high or extra high. which equates to about 1in or 1.25in tall rings.

Look at Burris PEPR ring mount. Larue or GGG are excellent as well.

Moving the optic forward on the gun, as the PEPR does, can be beneficial as well.

If you want dual witness, where you have iron sights and illuminated sights(red dot or holographic) inline, you need a very specific height.
