glock 23 vs xd40

just swapped out my glock 23 for a new xd40.

man what a difference.i love glocks but the xd series are much better imo.

nicer features and less recoil.the glock was a bit easier to conceal in my waste.but the xd fits comfortably too.

to me the recoil on the glock was way harsher and the slide release sucked.the xd also has a polished feedramp.

just my .02

XD is a much better pistol to me. I have owned 10+ Glocks and I still do not see the hype behind them.

I carry an XD9, and it's become an extension of my hand. I love it.

XD .45 Service- Never Leave Home Without It!

COngrats man, XD's are my type of gun. I keep the 5" .45 on home defense duty, and the 4" .45 with me all the time.

I don't have one yet but I like the model with the thumb safety. MGS had a 4" one in .45 that I would not mind having. I still love my Glocks.

I have a xd45 with thumb safety that I've been thinking of selling... Shoot me a pm if your interested.

I have 3 xd's and I love them all, but my xd9 sub is my favorite. 13+1 in a sub compact that is an absolute tack driver...

Actually I have shot both and I prefer the Glock. I believe (as with all handguns) that it's the fit in your hand gives that gives you the best chance in a gun fight, also being accurate is very important which to me the Glock is unsurpassed. I had a G-21 and now I own a G-32, it fits my hand a lot better than the G-21, it's deadly accurate and lightweight, hell I can't even tell I'm carrying most of the time. I also only carry 7 shots to cut down on weight therefore giving me a 7lb gun loaded.

It's rather common to see a former Glock fanatic joining the XD club. I like XD (own several models) and I recently bought a Glock to experience it first hand. I still prefer XDs. The ergonomics are just better from the slide release to the mag release and so on. The XD line seems to fit more people. Specially those who tried to fit themselves around a Glock for years.

I bought my XD .45 in 2006. It's an LE (GAP). It was my first pistol. I've shot a ton of different pistols since then and none of them compare to the XDs. Yesterday I shot a Glock 23 for the first time. The hand grip was too big for my hand with the double stacked mag, but other than that it fired nice...just didn't feel as good in my hand.

I'd like to check out that 4" XD .45 sometime when you go to the range. I've thought about consolidating pistol calibers (currently have 2 .40 S&W Glocks, Kimber .45 ACP, and my dad's Taurus M85 .38 Special) and eliminating the .40 S&W.

Gimme a week or two heads up, and we can set this thing in motion!!

I'd be more than happy to let ya bust some off with the 4" XD, and the 5" for that matter.

I've got a Taurus M85S .38 Special....wonder if it's the same thing. Fully exposed hammer? 5 round cylinder? Black on black?

i don't go anywhere without my xd40.

i love glocks but the xd's work so much better.mags drop out quicker, ambi mag release better (i use my index finger)slide release is 100% better.

i can run through a mag drop/reload/and be right back on target alot quicker with the xd.

she's a keeper!

They've got one just like that next door, just looked at it a few minutes ago.

Bonus: Picked up two boxes of .45 at WalMart last night, Remington in the Green/white box, for about 18.xx a box.

I made the exact same move. Had a Glock 23, now have an XD40 Service. I have / had no complaint on the function of the Glock, I just prefer the way the XD fits my hand. Basically what Propellerhead said.. Ergonomics.

I do like the added grip safety on the XD as well.

One of the reasons why I prefer XD's over glocks, the safety.

I went to the gun store the other day and played around with the XDs. Although I admit I did not actually shoot one....

They feel heavier, specifically top heavy. Does that even out pretty well with the magazine in it?

The slide release was not overly impressive to me. It releases the slide as expected.

The magazine release and the magazines are nice.

Admittedly from an appearance point of view, it is a nicer looking weapon. The store also informed me in general they cost the same as my Glock 19, but then you get a bunch of accessories with it.

I saw nothing wrong with it, but all the excitement in these type of threads had me expecting a Kimber type gun for a Glock type price. So I figured I'd look one more time. Probably just not a big enough gun nut to appreciate it.

My '03 Sold.
