I have never thought to check the status of a form, but who do you call and what do you say?

Tell them your name, and then tell them that the voices in your head keep bothering you about checking on your form's status.

LOL

Im just a bit nervous because when I mailed my packet out I mailed it to the BATFE Atlanta PObox, but didnt put "NFA Branch" on it.

Im reasonably certain that the box is just for form 1s and form 4s, but if not then im sure it will go to some lowly clerks desk who opens it up and puts it on the right persons desk. Worst case scenario, it sits on a gubment employees desk for an extra week or so.

Also, I filled out my citizenship form and put it in the packet. I havent filled out one before, so I hope I did it right (BATFE just announced that they want them with trust transfers).

Ah, yeah I saw you went the trust route. How do you prepare your trust... yourself or did you use an attorney?

Used an attorney in Houston. Misty Barajas.

Good lady to work with, and the trust is air tight.

Did you already have her on retainer, or did she have a flat rate for preparation? The trust route worries me, but I figure if it's dissolved in the future you just have to pay your stamp fee again.

She had a flat rate, something like $600 bucks. I was afraid of the "do it yourself" ones on the internet because of some guy who had his mac and suppressor confiscated by the BATFE due to an improperly drafted trust.

Having a lawyer handle it was worth the extra cash for me.

Just curious on why "you would have to pay the stamp fee again"? Unless you resell it to your new corporation, taxes shouldn't be collected a second time. Then again; seems like I get taxed on everything from new items, and purchases of used items (car would be a good example).

I looked into the Incorporated route, and you would have to file taxes on the corporation yearly. The Trust doesn't require filing in Texas, and there is no 'tax form' to complete yearly. Cover your ass, and create a trust with beneficiaries, and (most importantly) setup a bank account in the trust name. ALL TRUST ACTIVITIES (firearms, peice parts, NFA forms, everything) goes through your Trust bank account. I even use the account for general firearm purchases not requiring BATFE forms or taxes.

I sent mine in on February 5th, went pending March 18th.

The wait is killing me! All I want to do is write my name in some plywood with some 45acp.
