Home Defence 12 gauge rounds ??

Standing by the safe and was thinking what would be the best second line of defence rounds for the 12 gauge ?

#7 birdshot ? #4 turkey shot ? 00 Buckshot ?

Don't really want to go through all the walls in the house but it would be the wifes
first grab. It's only the wife and myself and no kids, so going through the walls might not be a bad thing, yet we do have guest over now and then.

First grab is a .45.

What do y'all think.

1/2 mile 9 turns 41.3 sec

Pattern load: 2 - bird shot, 2 - 00 and 1 - slug, just in case.

I bought all 00, but am considering #4 at this time. This thread may prove to be interesting. I've heard some good things about #4, but I just don't know enough about shotgun rounds at this time. I knew enough that 00 would drop most humans quickly so I got it over slugs.

Federal makes a tactical load for 12ga., that is what I keep in mine. It's not that expensive:

I have seen someone shot with 12g bird shot. All you are going to do is piss someone off.

00 Buck here, no slugs. I'm on 4 acres of land and don't have to worry about over penetration or neighbors for the most part. If I need something that would require slugs I grab the AR.
