LOL, how mounted, and where?

You taking about an MG42 mounted in the bed of a truck or a shotty in a dash gunmount or something?

I would love a simple .50 on my roof for heavy traffic on I-45.

it's my possibly mistaken impression that long guns can be openly visible on your person or in your vehicle in TX

you're much less likely to get pulled over if it's in the back window of a pickup than if it's "riding shotgun" in your honda or slung over your shoulder though

The way I interpret the law is it is okay as long as it does not cause people to panic. Mounting a m60 to the back of your truck with a seat and a guy riding in the back could possibly cause concern if you are out patrolling the streets for neighbor hood watch.

Nothing wrong with it. Problem comes down to whether or not you're causing a public alarm and making an uncomfortable situation in the LEOs eyes.

Ive driven around with my M60 mounted on my Jeep and other machine guns on other vehicles. LEOs around here are pretty familiar with my family etc, so it's not so much a problem.

However, you're results may vary.

but you might have an issue if you drove through Austin with someone else at the helm and your crippled ass sitting in back manning the pig

Thats what I needed to know. As soon as my tax return comes in this week I'm picking up a M38A1. I'm going to get the M31C machine gun mount to mount my 1919. I figured as long as it's secured, not loaded, and there's not somebody posted up on it, that it wouldn't be a problem.

Cool.

My understanding is that they're followed under the same laws as long guns here in Texas. Which really have no laws. But like I said, most LEOs wont give a damn until someone starts getting scared.

Where are you getting the M38 from?

How is this legal, but yet we can't open carry and need a CHL?

Anyway, I don't care who you are - if you're driving around my neighborhood with a weapon mounted on your vehicle you're going to make me nervous and draw my attention. If you put a towel on your head, some rednecks may go hunting for ya!

The one I'm looking at isn't near as nice as the one pictured. With some fresh paint it'd be dang close though.
