Cheap piece to move my red dot up on my AR-15

I have an A2 flat top upper and the red dot scope is too close to the gun. The scope is cheap, so I don't need an super expensive piece. BUT when I think about it I eventually want to go with a eotech holo site, and I don't want a cheap piece to raise it up higher. An inch or 1.5" should be good.

Just poke around on the web.

If you do use a riser, just be aware of the BSR (barrel/sight radius).

Go to bass pro or cabelas and buy a BSA Red Dot Scope. They are like 30 bucks and will work fine on a AR-15. (Been there, done it). Worked great until I bought a Eotech. Ended up taking the BSA and putting it on my .22 Target Pistol.

Whats dumb is the risers I found cost more than what I paid for my red dot scope, so I will just hold off.

If you aren't trying to shoot very far, why not shoot iron sights?

Give me a dollar.

Well, if he's talking about sight radius - it's the distance between the front and rear sights.. the further away they are, the more accurate you can shoot. The closer they are, the less acccurate you will be - compare AR-15 to AK47 for example.

Also, the higher you raise the optics from the barrel, the less accurate the weapon is at varying ranges. Keep it as low as it's comfortable for you.

BSR^

In tactical training they emphasize shooting from barricades to train not to shoot the barricade because the sights are so much taller than the barrel. If you are trying to shoot from cover, you try to hide as much as possible and forget how high they are.
