holster talk

What are you carrying in? I have tried a handfull of uncle mikes, and have not been impressed.

I see the crossbreed supertuck is popular, those who have it: Is is worth $80?

Is there another option you recomend?

I've got the SuperTuck (in horsehide) and love it. Pretty comfortable and hides the gun extremely well. That said, be sure to get a gun belt that'll help carry the weight of the gun/holster. I carry my XD40 Service in it.

Im a really big fan of BlackHawk Serpa holsters, although Ive never worn it on a belt and is probably not ideal for concealed. Its a good solid holster and drawing out of it is awsome.

It really depends on where you are planning on carrying.

I have the Comp-Tac Minotaur. Carrying a Glock 23. I think Pooter on here has one as well. I love it. It snags onto my belt perfect, the leather protects every part of the gun against my bodyside, and its very flexible. You can also adjust the clips and if you want to cant it more. Very easy to move and sit with it. Dont even notice its there. Does a great job of hiding as well. I can wear a t-shirt and jeans/shorts, doesnt print at all, unless I bend or stoop A LOT. Fit and finish is great on the holster itself, and Comp-Tacs customer service and speedy shipping is 2nd to none. I recommend them to everyone I talk to.

I've got a $15 dollar deal I picked up at the Dallas Gun Show last year at Market Hall. Says KLNJ on the tag. Works like a charm, with my .45ACP XD Service model. IWB carry, washer friendly. It's kind of a bitch to get on/off jeans though, but that's a plus in my book.

I've got a handful of BlackHawk Serpas, I love them, but they are a bitch to conceal with. Not worth the trouble; but I wear them at the deer lease and out to shoots where open carry is permissible.

Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to kill them.

Yes for the following reasons:

It uses two clips that are offset from the pistol. The holsters with one clip have the clip lined up with the holster so you get a larger overall thickness. It's like sticking a soda can in your waistband. The CB ST spreads out the thickness

This also makes it very stable. The pistol does not rotate on you. I've seen people grab their side and adjust every time they stand up.

Half leather, half Kydex. The Kydex body is very thin compared to full double layer thick leather.

It's regular leather, not some fancy stained brushed glittered pretty boy whatever leather. You can trim, cut, reshape the leather backing to your liking. Fit the holster to you, not fit you to the holster.

i have a crossbreed supertuck as well...actually i have 2 of them. one for my taurus PT145(what i carry 95% of the time), and one for my xd9(4in barrel). i absolutely LOVE the crossbreed holster. im a skinny guy (6'4", 175lbs) and i can conceal the guns in a tshirt and shorts/jeans...only thing i have to do is wear a tshirt underneath my normal shirt because i dont like the leather rubbing my side w/out a thsirt on underneath

After actually having my gun fall out of the holster at work from a galco . I will never wear another holster other than a crossbreed supertuck in horsehide. There comes a point where you need to ask is $80 worth it for not getting a felony. Personally the supertuck is very comfortable for me in the 5:30 position lowered one notch. To me there is no other answer for a holster other than crossbreed. I own one for all of my carry pistols.

I also carry with a supertuck. I bought mine for $40 used (barely used). I just shop around on the different forums and texasguntrader. Would I pay $90? Nope.. Id recommend the cow hide, combat grip and get an extra set of holster clips. I have bent the back one a couple times where the cross is cut out.

This is one of my concerns. I hope to be getting my CHL soon, I'm 130lbs soaking wet. 5'8" and i feel its going to be hard to hide my xd40sc on me.

I did not see ya post what you're carrying, if Glock I'll recommend sidearmor.

I had to go off some recommendations from people I feel know what they are doing. I'm a fat ass and this combined with the instructor belt hides my Glock 19 pretty well. I bought j-hooks, but am going to swap those for regular belt loops and 20* cant as opposed to 15.

Milt Sparks holsters seem nice enough, just thick as hell. I liked propellerhead's point about that CB one being thinner profile due to the combo...etc.

With sweat pants, you're going to probably need to go with thunderwear or equivalent (or fanny pack). Supertuck and holsters like it, you're going to need a gun belt to help with support.
