I just got one before christmas and so far i love it. I got the 93r with the heavy barrel and thumbhole stock. I really like the trigger on it. Kinda wierd at first though.

Edit: Plus i was able to squeeze about a half inch group in a lil wind at 60ish yrds!!!!

EDIT: Giggity. http://sharpshootersupply.com/MTR_Stock.html

I would rather spend another $20 and buy this (I just really want a lever .22 to plink with though)

Just build that 10/22 ... it will do everything you want at 50 yards after a few parts replacements. A new gun is always good though.

I have both a custom 10/22 and the Savage 93 in .17hmr. The Ruger is a fun gun to plink with, but starts dropping off at 50-75 yards. I was picking doves off with my .17 at about 200 this past weekend. It is ridiculously accurate, and can actually hunt with it.

If it is this one (Model: 93R17 FV), then yes, I'd buy it. If it's just the Savage Model Stevens 310, then it's about $5 over MSRP and I'd avoid it.

Go here: http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/finder/ and check out all the .17 models before you go buy.

310 has the tapered barrel, the 93 has the bull barrel. I am 99% sure that the gun pictured in the link is the 93 due to the barrel design.

I wasn't quite sure. There is not any info I can match, but I'd like to have the bull barrelled suppressed version!

My bosses dad has the 93r also. I love shooting that damn thing anytime i'm over there. Last time we shot clays, I was picking up pieces of clay pigeons, and setting them in the tops of gatorade bottles and dr.pepper cans at various ranges and picking them off.

It shows the heavy barrel as well as a sand stock, but teh description says black synthetic. Most Savage syn stocks are ugly anyway, so I would put that on the list to replace.

Here is my .17:

matt, i went to look at it and the one for that price is blued with a syn. stock not the stainless in the photo. i asked the guy at the gun counted about it and he called the manager over and they both told me they would really have no choice but to give me the stainless nice one for that price. I am not one to exploit someones mistake for my own good, so i passed ( i fuck up too much). they couldnt believe it, and now as i sit here with out my .17hmr neither can i. besides i think i am gonna get the nice stainless one with the thumbhole stock and such like chopped54. they are asking 379.99 for it if i recall correctly.

god bless.

That would have been a great deal. Pokulski-Blatz would have bought two and bragged!

I really like the .17, and so does my youngest. He fed 100 rounds through mine at the last range GTG.
