Lost out on a great deal on an M1A SOCOM 16

Was checking the Glock Talk Classifieds last night and stumbled across a guy local selling one for $1000. Think it only lasted 2 hours before it was sold. Dammit and I had the cash Man I'd love to own an M1A

What was the point of the shortened barrel? Close combat weapon?

Nice gun though.

Pretty much. They have the full size rifle, the Bush version (slightly shorter) and than the SOCOM which has an even shorter barrel. I hear it's louder than shit to with the SOCOM length barrel.

I have one and can tell you that you didn't miss anything. If you want a short barrel go with the scout squad.

I've read the same thing, and that they have (or had) some jamming issues, on the SOCOM.

Never had a problem with mine. It's just SUPER LOUD and the bullets are about200 fps slower then the scout squad. It also make a 3 foot fire ball when shooting at night.

We have a couple on some of the M4's here. The barrel is so short, it sticks out about an inch past the hand guard. They are deafening loud, especially inside a room.

Wow, if I had known that, I would have hooked you up with mine, instead traded it for a Desert Eagle in .44mag with a 5 digit s/n. The Eagle is fun, but the M1A is kinda nice to have around.
