New toy (wheelgun!)

I called GT Distributors and bought this today:

It should be shipped to my FFL tomorrow

That makes a fine addition to:

S&W Model 65-3 .357 Mag 4" barrel
S&W A642 38+P Airweight snubby
Ruger GP101 .357 Mag 6" barrel
Ruger Redhawk .44 Mag 7.5" barrel

Nice wheel gun. I only have one revolver, an old POS no-name .38, but it goes bang every time and is plenty accurate.

Thanks, I can't wait to get it in.

My S&W Model 65-3 is a great shooting gun. I love the way revolvers have no creep in the trigger when set in single action. My Kimbers all have slack, but when you shoot the S&W, you put firm pressure on the trigger and it breaks cleanly.

Congrats,

I have a Model 19, by far the smoothest gun I have ever shot.

Which FFL are you using? We are somewhat in the same area and the store in Waxahachie wanted $45 for a transaction.

I'm using Minute Man Arms in East FTW. He charges either $20 or $25, I don't recall.

I've always kinda wanted a Python, but they quit making them in what, 1995?

I just don't like the cylinder release on a Colt.

Very damned nice Matt!!

That's the same model I've been looking at up here.

I'll be expecting a range report.

Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to kill them.

I agree, I work by DFW Gun range and may use them I have to talk to the guy who does them there. Other guy at the counter said they were $35 there and the difference in gas/time/traffic may be worth it.

Haven't gotten the call from the FFL.

I'm home from work now, so I will have to wait until tomorrow evening. I'm going in tomorrow night to work for someone else (cover the night shift) so I'll stop by his house then.

Theres a ffl over in Ft Worth that goes for 10$ for Leo and 15$ for chl. I used minute man arms a few times, I think he's Dr. Gilreath. He fluctuates on prices which ticks me off as many times as I've used him. He's a little pricey on his weapons. His Chl class is condensed so if you don't have much time that is about the only advantage of going through him.
Nice gun, I want something without the hammer in 357 so I can use the magnums I accidently bought instead of 357 sig.

Why go hammerless?

I'm not aware of a medium frame sized gun that is hammerless. You can always have the hammer bobbed.

2" barreled K frame with a bobed hammer and maybe a round but convesion would be a bad ass carry gun.

Well hammerless is the wrong term since on the 340 M&P .357 Magnum Centennial revolver it is internal. But that's what I call them. I like the "hammerless" for if I have to draw down I can shoot from a coat pocket without snag. I also like it for the compact size with a large punch for chl purposes. I don't like the low capacity but do like the reliability of a revolver and with some crimson trace on it you should be able to hit something. Oh yeah it is also only double action which I'm not too sure if I like or not.

Technically hammerless is incorrect, but it is the widely accepted term. My S&W 642 is "hammerless". A bobbed hammer serves the same purpose though.

DAO is the way to go for revolvers. For some stupid reason, it's been shown to have less liabilty is shooting situations than a single action. Lawyers show more evil intent when you cock the hammer on a revolver, but I can't understand why.

Because they are lawyers...no other definition necessary.

It's not going to be a concealed carry gun, just a fun gun.

Any suggestions?

I have a nice smith and wesson 28-2 that I bought a nice basic leather holster for at Academy. I carry it on my belt when I go hunting and so far it has worked out great!

When to the range at work today and fired some 125 gn Gold Dot .357 Magnums!

I love the way that thing barks! It had me as giddy as a school girl!
