Alpine 12-15-09

Gonna be up at Alpine tomorrow (12/15) to send some rounds down range. I will be up there with my Pops and we will have quite a few AR varraints to shoot and a suppressed AR and .22.

We should be there around 12 and will be there for at least 3/4 hours.

Come on out and introduce yourself.

I will have my spotting scope out there, yes? I will let you shoot what I have, not sure though if my Pops will share his POF to strangers. He might. Come on out.

Damn it ... too much to do today to go to this. I sure hope you hit the range again before heading back over. I want to try out some of those suppressors.

Well I don't know you but if I wasn't at work I would come up anyway. I could actually meet someone from the board and sight in my Remington 700. Stupid work. You guys have fun, especially with that supressed AR, that sounds awesome. I am going to try to get out there Saturday right when they open.

Damn man. Wish I could take off and meet you guys out there. Just have too much going on the next couple of weeks.

Have fun though, and enjoy some quality time with pops.

I ended up sending about 75 rounds of 230 gn round nose down range. It was a little chilly out.

I cleaned up the Kimber and shagged.

It's a damn nice little gun. There isn't much recoil for the tiny barrel..

9mm?

My Kimber (.45) doesn't kick as bad as I thought it would. It's a full size but still isn't bad at all.

Now... it will throw the hell out of the brass, so neigbors to the right, be aware!

Just now got home. Was a pretty chilly. We only fired the POF, my 700 in .308 and my AR15 with the suppressor. We never came off the 100yrds and decided to call it a day.

The POF shoots sub half inch moa cold bore out of the box. THe US Optics scope helped. I was very impressived but it did not like the 190gr stuff at all. It ate up the 168gr federal gold match stuff though.

No shit. .308 luvs some 168 gn hollow point boat tail match. There's a reason they call it "match grade" and charge almost $2 per round. That shit used to be $16.98/box of 20.

Some like the heavier stuff it just depends on the twist rate of the barrel.

That is very true. He was shooting a 16" 1x10 and the 168gr stabilized enough and grouped 4 rounds that you could cover with a nickle. The 190gr stuff spreadout just over an inch.

I was shooting a 20" 1x12 and the 190gr tightened around an inch but my gun still likes the 168gr better.

Acording to a Shillen chart I have for .30 caliber it says.
1:8= heavier than 220 Gr
1:10= up to 220Gr
1:12 up to 170Gr
1:14 up to 168Gr
1:15 up to 150Gr
1:17 up to 125Gr

Damn. Nice gun. Does it have the "Kimber" grips, as pictured? I want a set for mine but they are awful proud of them.
