Rifle match shooting?

Does anyone here shoot in match rifle competitions? I'm very interested in getting into the sport, but I don't know too much about it.

Any tips on equipment and where to look for more information would be greatly appreciated. I live near Dallas, so names of any DFW area gun ranges or clubs that cater to that style of shooting would be appreciated as well.

I did in high school but not since. I'd start with the NRA's website.

Raptor 700R
No fast cars though

I would like to read up on this too.

I just bought a Remington 700, would like to get some education and practice on the longer range shooting.

Need to find a longer range too, Alpine stops at 100 yards.

Bench Shooting is basically a heavy gun with a stock that slides on a front pedestal and a rear bag. These are $2k rifles with $2k in scope(see March scopes).

Bench Rest shooting up in Denton about every month. www.benchrest.com.

Silhouette rimfire in Fort Worth. Joe, aka Stung, posted on here once upon a time. Or maybe it was Casper. Been a while.

Not sure where "F" class is held in Texas. This was a Canadian discipline that is catching on world wide. 600 yards is the shortest course I have heard of.

Terrell Gun Club has bench rest as well.

I participated in informal AR bench match that was monthly this summer. We scanned our targets in after a 5-shot or 10-shot group with a caliper measuring the 2 holes furthest from each other. Winner was .2's and .3's at 100 yards with scope. 50, 100, 200 with scope and same distances with iron sites. It was a lot of fun. Most guys were shooting custom AR's with cheap scopes and bi-pod.

Yeah I would love to look into this as well. I have always thought getting into 1000+ yard shooting competitions. I really would love an excuse to get a .338 Lapua custom rifle

I've done a few with my AR, mostly informal, but with competitive brackets and on private land.
