buffer tube/receiver extension questions?

did the gent at cheaper than dirt sell me the commercial buffer tube when i asked for the mil-spec? no part numbers or anything, but the back of the tube is slanted and doesnt slide into my mil-spec stock. i sure hope not as it not exactly down the street. i did get to go to cheaper than dirt and military gun supply while i was out that way though.

god bless.

can't tell you about the buffer tube, but you can completely assemble a lower regardless of the upper. The takedown pins do not come all the way out, hence the reason for the detent ball and spring.

You should have your buttstock figured out before you assemble the rear takedown pin as the buffer tube is an integral part of holding that together.

ditto. you have a commercial tube.

Never wrap it up, never pull out. Just grind up the morning after pill in her scrambled eggs at sunrise, she'll appreciate that you made her breakfast.

best bet if you are not in a hurrry is to wait for a gun show. you can go ahead and put it in now, it does not come all the way out to put the upper on.

you should ask mad dog on the forum, or see him at MGS, he has an AR detent/sprint kit with everything.

market hall gun show is coming up, there are usually a couple guys there that sell just the spring; you might also check with MGI to see if they will be there, they might swap the buffer tube with you there.

I usually have extra detent springs but have used them all. I usually hold everything inside a box when putting the front detent spring in so it doesn't get lost when it goes flying......
