So is pistol ammo getting easier to find?

I hadn't shopped for any in a while, having stocked up on enough for my needs. Went to my local Walmart to buy some Mobil 1 last Friday and figured what the hell, let me see what they've got. Low and behold they had several boxes of Federal FMJ in both .40 S&W and .45 ACP. I hadn't seen either caliber in this store in months and now they had some in stock.

probably just got lucky. most of the time when they get some in it doesn't last for more than a couple hours. I haven't seen any 45 in a long time.

Probably so. I'll have another look this Friday and see what they have.

David, I honestly don't know why you respond to these posts other than to pad your post count. Most of us can't afford what you have and they quantity that you buy things at. I'd almost say I'm jealous sometimes but I have other hobbies besides this one

Does anyone else find it coincidental that Wal Mart tends to place toys, sporting goods, ammo, car stuff, hardware, and grills on one side of the store and groceries/clothes on the other?

The electronics seem to be the neutral ground...

The Cobra has run a best of 13.58 ET finally 104 mph on stock engine, no blowers, no turbos, no NOS! Note I said HAS run, now it sits on bald tires in the driveway, but the speedometer and A/C work again!!! 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege Zoom, Zoom, Zoom... It's turboed I get three Zooms biatch!!!!

Hey baby... how about a little Boom Boom in my Zoom Zoom?

Would you rather have the antifreeze next to the gatorade? Same color liquid....

My brother in law bought some of the federal stuff in the pic for his .40 and that shit was shredding the jacket as soon as it left the barrel his chl target had a bunch of funny tears in it. I looked real close at it and found peices of the jacket where the holes weren't punched all the way through the paper/cardboard.

Makes sense to me the way it's laid out. Most grocery stores keep car stuff, pots and pans, cleaning supplies, etc away from food.

Hmm... I can't say I've ever shot Federal FMJ before (seems like it's always been Winchester or Wolf) but I'll have to keep an eye on it when I hit up the range next. Hell this is the first time I've seen Federal FMJ at Walmart before.

A buddy of mine that works security for some power plant stated they had the same problems with that ammo. They use 9mm not .40 cal. I use Federal for my hunting rifle and was planning on buying some before general rifle season. I hope these problems are resolved for rifle ammo.

Yea I use Federal in a couple of my rifles and I use their expanding full metal jacket ammo in a defense pistol and have never had this problem. I was very wild nothing I would have expected from Federal.

Wow I haven't seen anything other than .22 and .25 at my Walmart in at least 3 months and I check everytime I am in the store, which is about every 3-4 days.

Been seeing that at my Walmart often. I've shot it for my IDPA matches. Works great.

evil and I shop at the same Wallie's apparently. What you don't see in the picture is a 100 rd 45 ACP Winchester white box that I took home.

Yes, in my experience, ammo is finally getting a bit easier to find.

I stopped at the Cabelas in Buda (between San Antonio and Austin) Sunday afternoon on my way home and they had a shit ton of all calibers. Hopefully it's easing up, I've still got to stock up!!

Walmart here in Sherman is still dry as far as ammo goes.

The smaller business that sell ammo are getting better, but I guess when people see rounds at Walmart they have an urge to clean them out.

I need to stock up on .45ACP fmj but don't feel like paying the higher prices that are wanted by the smaller joints.

I'll just wait until I get lucky and catch some at Wallie world.

Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to kill them.

There for a while I couldn't find 9mm ammo anywhere. I bought 250 rounds at wal-mart last week, but it was all they had. So I'd say you got lucky...

Let's see I'd say Thursday a week and a half ago.

I usually stop by every Thursday on the way home to see if they have any ammo before the normal Friday payday.

That seems to work for me. I've found the federal 100 round 223 boxes there and the very lucky to find 45 100 rd WWB. I also saw some 15 rd 00 buck boxes for $9 last time I was there. I'll be hitting it up tomorrow I think as I have to go out of town this Thursday for work.

The 100 rd WWB was $29.97 IIRC too.

Small rifle and small pistol primers are hard to find. 45 ACP ammo is hard to find. Hard to sell, I posted up some CCI 230gr and got no hits. I was below mailorder price.

I found the Federal ammo .40 at Walmart in Roanoke a few weeks ago. I kept buying .40 cal ammo everytime I found it and now I have 800+ rounds. I'm done.
