Remington Golden Saber??

In a .45ACP +P, 185 grain JHP

Good ammo? Bad?

Will my XD handle a +P round?

Your XD will handle a +p round.

If I were you I would do ALOT of reading on balistic tests. There are so many types of ammo out there something else might be better for you.

I think the hand loads in my .45 are 1200fps .45 HP, should be pretty devastating.

Personally I'd go with a heavier round, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with tha round. I'd hate to get hit with any 185 gn .45 caliber round.

Our local pd uses golden sabers so they should be decent they specific round you listed is pretty potent with roughly 533 pound feet of energy.

Reason I was asking was they have a couple 25 round boxes of this stuff next door to where I work.

30 bucks a box. Is that a good deal.

I'm looking for a decent round to leave in the XD for home defense.

EXCELLENT round...all I carry in a .45

These days anything is a good deal. If you have the $$, get them.

Is it a good deal? Hell no. But it's as good as you're gonna get these days. I'd buy them and load them up for personal defense.

No bad guy is gonna take one and go "aw shit, that was just 185 grains. I was expecting 230."

They are great loads but a little pricey. I have only shot coyotes with them so I don't know what it will do to a person but I doubt that it will be pleasant. Most of the time I shoot 200gr or higher in .45 ACP. Hornady also has some some great +P LE loads for .45ACP that are quite a bit cheaper. Last time I bought the Hornadys from C&G they were $12.99 a box and that wasn't all that long ago.

I have the Rem GS 185gr +P in my 1911. But I haven't shot them yet. The nickel cases are for easier feeding.

I like the Hornady 230gr XTP bullets. I made some with WLP primer and Power Pistol. They are 950fps like the +P. They are stout.

I've read the XTP open up better than the GS.

Just my thought, any .45 ACP HP round is going to be good. I probably wouldn't spend extra on +P rounds but that's just me, a slow 230 grain "flying ashtray" is going to be plenty enough.
