getting the LEO discount with a military/government/state employee ID?

a buddy of mine said he got the LEO discount by showing a gunstore his military id. they said that if you are a government or state employee you can get that discount as well. i could see active military getting the discount but does it apply to gov and state employees? i kind of doubt it...

Glock had a discount going for awhile, if you were active duty military, a Local/State/Federal LEO and I think some paramedics got it as well. If you do a search on here you can find it with a link to one of the stores with the paper as well.

I believe it has expired though.

I am a .gov employee with a military ID card. My card has a light green stripe and for rank shows GS14 vs SGT etc. Some places will give me a military discount some won't. CTD requires you to be Active Duty military. Reserves, Guard, etc gets no discount and isn't allowed in the LEO/Active duty display case.

Really? Not that suprised though. In the past 3 and a haf years I have bought 9-10 firearms, 3 suppressors and countless rounds of ammo from them and Robert up there is the only one that remembers me each time I go in.

This thread is a good reminder my ID expired a few days ago.

HR, hahahaha.......another difference between Iraq and us in Afg. I tell them to piss up a rope on a daily basis. I hand them SOLID case reports that have zero holes and have been gone thru by everyone in my chain all the way up to Nelfong in Iraq and they still can't fire a guy.

There is published list of over 200 people in country with expired CACs. The problem lies in the fact there are only a few bases in the whole country where you can get it renewed and good luck with the .mil's equipment working or if it works they are out of cards.

But you are right now that I have an up to date LOA I do need to get it renewed.

I don't think so, but I've gotten conflicting info. I bought mine at GT Distributors in Austin and you have to show an I.D. just to get in the store. When I called Glock, they told me that their discount applies to current military, police, fire, EMTs, first responders and "government employees."

I don't believe you can, but for your best bet I would check out some other sources:

Im most definently doing all i can to keep my military ID after i get out.
You get discount everywhere. Im not going around flaunting it, most people notice it in my wallet.
I have relaxed grooming stadards in this unit, so i do get funnt looks sometimes.

cheaperthandirt didnt give me any kind of discount, but it was at the gunshow.
I bought my handgun from them in dec. '07
