Yeah, you should be able to find a used one for under $500

Some people will pay more to avoid having to go through the paperwork to buy from a dealer. Not saying the original poster has anything to hide. It's just that some people don't want any documentation of their purchase.

$529 from Academy...

Maybe it's just me though, but when I buy a new firearm I shoot a lot more than 30 rounds thru it in the first time out. I've had mine probably 3 weeks and have had 300 or so rounds in it.

If you add in the XD gear and the case I paid less than 500 for the gun. XD gear is $100 new right? Maybe I got screwed oh well. He has a stock pile of XD's. He bought his wife an XD9sc today and called all over dallas before finding one. I had the money to do something and jumped on the first one that came about after looking around. Probably a mistake but oh well. Anywho. gonna try and hit the range this sunday when I'm off

Regardless, congrats on the purchase. I'm very happy with my XD, however is it the service model. It shoots great and takes about 3 seconds to fully field strip.

I know all of that is included with the gun. It also came with an XD Gear set, which provides extra mags and an additional mag holster. As well as a Don Hume leather holster for the gun. only a $20 holster. I don't feel completely screwed, I know I could have waited and found better deals, but it seems like from my looking off and on these guns are getting harder to find.

I went by wal mart to see what they had available in the way of ammo as me and a friend plan to go out to the range on Sunday. 2 boxes of winchester white box 165 gr is all they had. What do you guys recommend I run through this gun? I picked up those two boxes just in the event I couldn't find anything between now and Sunday. Also, does anyone know of any good ranges that will be open this Sunday in teh Greenville area. Thats NOT Greenville Ave!

I carry that gun and love it.

For target practice, I shoot either CCI Blazer Brass 180 gr, CCI Blazer Aluminum 180 gr, or Winchester White Box. Those are usually the cheapest target practice ammo around. Academy Sports also has Monarch but only shoot the one in the green box. The blue box is steel cased and many people shy away from that.

x2 on the ammo choices... I normally shoot Blazer Brass 180gr. $12.50 a box...basically the cheapest thing you will find. Out of 500 rounds that I have had go through the gun...I had 1 no fire. Got another 300 rounds sitting here waiting.

Walmart... there is some crazy rush on ammo these days. You might have some fun trying to find some. The walmart here in Keller keeps .40 in stock...9mm on the other hand is always out of stock. People buy it by the 1000's

I used to work at the Wal Mart here in town and was talking to the associate in sporting goods tonight. There was a bulletin come down from home office saying they are having trouble getting ammo from the mfg. I'm just gonna start buying what I can get my hands on when I can

As long as you're happy with it, then don't worry about it.

Now if you'd paid upwards of 650 for it....that's another story.

Congrats man....get us a range report when you get it back from the range!

No shit...I went to Academy the other evening....bought all the WWB in 9mm FMJ that they had.

Everywhere I've been up here in Sherman.....i.e. Gander, Academy, and Walmart....they are running low on .45, 9mm, and .223.

.40 caliber, however, is not in shortage up here. At least, as of a couple days ago.

To the OP, if ya want me to run around and check availability and prices up here, PM me and I'll send ya my cell number. I don't mind making a run to see what there is.

last year... look around buddy. The gun show in Mesquite at the beginning of November had XD9/40's for $415... less than a month later, they were $485 at the shows and $529 at the store. So you paid to much last year

I agree... in a lot of cases i'd rather pay a lil more and buy at the store than pay less and wait for it to be shipped.

Ummmm. I just bought a Kimber that was over $1100. I saved over $97 in tax alone. I got a better price than I would have here, so that cancelled out the shipping.

Pussy.

I picked up my Kimber at a restaurant. I opened the USPS box and pulled the Kimber plastic case out and then fingered the Kimber at the table.

If I'm not mistaken, the owner or person in "Care/Custody/Control" can carry. Since you said you ran a bar, I thought you could have this covered... This has nothing to do with CHL regulations...

Do you have a CHL?

Here's the statute:

PC §46.035.

UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE HOLDER.

(a) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder carries a handgun on or about the license holder's person under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, and intentionally fails to conceal the handgun.

(b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of whether the handgun is concealed, on or about the license holder's person:

(1) on the premises of a business that has a permit or license issued under Chapter 25, 28, 32, 69, or 74, Alcoholic Beverage Code, if the business derives 51 percent or more of its income from the sale or service of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption, as determined by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission under Section 104.06, Alcoholic Beverage Code;

Then you shouldn't have to worry about the CHL clause. That 51% is for CHL holders only. For anyone else except the owner/manager it's against the law anyway.

The guy at the counter at my local wal-mart said the same thing a few weeks ago. They had 6 or 8 boxes of the blazer though so I was okay.

I found a nice little stash of .40 S&W out on Commerce. Picked up 150 rounds of blazer. Should blow through quite a bit of that on Sunday. Since this gun hasn't seen very many rounds, the guy who sold it to me recommended I run the brush through it after a couple of mags. What do you guys recommend?

It's not necessary, but it will never hurt. Running 150 rounds through a gun won't hurt it unless you do all 150 rounds non stop.
