Cool Kimber Stainless Pro TLE/RL II

Well, after a dauntless search I found one.

Looking forward to shooting it. It feels VERY nice, and I love the beefy look to the end of the barrel area.

I've never owned one, but fired several. I'm sure you'll be tickled.

Make sure and get some Wilson Combat mags for it soon. The plastic followers on the WC have less chance of messing your gun up.

Congrats on the purchase. No go shoot both of them so you can bring me mine back!

Sweet

Glad you finally found one. I cant wait for the weather to warm up here so i can go shoot my handguns some more. We have a free outdoor pistol and rifle range.

What you might call solitude is something i look forward to.

You cleaned yours. I don't want to get it dirty and have to clean it... I'll just bring it back in the next day or so. What time you get home tomorrow?

I'm just kidding. No hurry.

You should, however, get some magazines with the plastic follower. Kimber magazines have metal ones. The chance of it damaging your gun is minimal, but I'm not going to save $30 and take the chance of ruining a $1K gun. Look at the magazine in my Kimber and compare it to the stocker. You can also look on the internet and find lots of guys with gouges in their guns from the metal follower on the stock magazines.

Ill prolly be ordering them around the 16th or the 17th i think. Ill figure it out after i buy myself a 1911, I think i am still set on that parkerized loaded model. Ill shoot ya a PM later on when i am getting ready to order.

Did you decide on what ammo you are gonna use for SD and carry?

I agree with you man, I had a beautiful series 1 kimber pro carry stainless and made the mistake of using a Chip Mcormic power mag. I ended up with some large gouges right below the feed ramp. I will gladly spend some extra on mags to prevent damage to my gun. you might spend 10-30 bucks more on mags depending on what you normaly buy but the money it saves you in resale is awesome. Not to mention used wilson mags no matter how old they are will sell for 22-24 bucks each shipped.

Since I can't carry it, I haven't decided on what ammo to keep in it. I'll probably just shoot ball ammo through it and have a mag of whatever the range uses in .45 cal.

So what you guys are saying is the Wilson mags have plastic followers? That's retarded to have a design that gets damaged by another part.

I like the 47d mag over the 47 ... the 47d gives ya a 8 rounder where the 47 is a 7 rounder. I think i might just order from Natchez if they have some of the black ones in stock. It comes out a bit cheaper cause i like the low profile base pads.

I looked at Kimber's site, and the Pro mags show to have a teflon coated follower. Is it still a metal follower?

its the same length as the 7 round mag. The base plate can be switched to a low profile metal one like what i have here ... FYI the standard baseplate on the 47 series of mags is .350" tall

here you can see the difference between the longer standard base plate and the low pro base plate (the three on the right have low pro bases)

Ok, if the 8 round ones are to the left, I'll take those. That's the same one that Dee has in his Kimber that I have in my safe. I put it in my TLE and it looks fine.

So, make it 5 of the 8 rounders and call it a day...

Sounds good. Do you think anyone will give any better price to LEO? If so, I can order, or if your armorer status will be best, go ahead and order away....

cheaper than dirt might be a option, any LEO supply places in the area? I just created a fake account on brownells and they give a gunsmith the same discount as a leo.

I don't know of any except GST supply in GP and they aren't really "friendly".... They are out to make a profit like everyone else..
