CHL class taken in Dec- still no PIN.

Anybody recently taken their CHL class and received a PIN? If so, how long did it take?

Yeah, I've done that. They just send me back a reply stating my packet has not been entered into the system.

Haha December? Sit back and relax buddy. I suggest some popcorn and a comfortable chair.

My buddy here at work took his last year and he said it took less than a month to get the PIN, but about 3 months to receive the license.

Really? That long to receive the PIN. I'm certainly not expecting my license back that fast. Just the confirmation PIN.

For any future chl students, send in your application money and get your packet from the dps BEFORE you go take the class. Your pin number will be given to you before you take the class, along with all hte paper work to send in to the state. It will also help speed up your application processing. Go here and click on apply for new license:

http://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/N...selectTask.jsp

You will fill out some forms and they will send you the packet you need the instructors to fill out along with fingerprint cards. Doing this will give you your license number and also a pin number. When you are ready to take the class, take the packet the dps sent with you to the class and let the instructor know before class that you have already applied. It will cut at least a 1/4 of the time off your wait and give you an instant pin number.

interesting idea, I never thought about that... how long does it take for the package to arrive?

Also for all the noob CHL'ers.... keep your PIN... you'll need it if you want to update or change your address online... its very quick and easy...

If i remember right, it was about 2 weeks. But what it boils down to is you are putting your own info in the system instead of some slow gov't contractor and after the class, you are already in the system, which is what usually takes so long. So after you take the class, all that is left is your background check.

Mine only took 2 months, and I got it in Dec.

I'm talking about the CHL, not the PIN.

I just got my PIN in the mail today. I mailed off my packet around Jan.20ththat would make it about 2.5 weeks, I guess.

Time to play more of the waiting game.
