Rolex Deal Gone Bad for Cash & Gun Trade

I was selling my Rolex in the firearms section. I received a pm from a gentleman here's the pm.

I would like to make a deal for your Rolex. Would you be interested in a real Israili Arms Uzi pistol? New in the correct blue box, less than 15 rounds fired. It has the barrells for a 45 and 9 mm. Also, have a poster of the Uzi with the late Uzi Gaul signiture and letter of authenticity. They are insured for $3,321, trade value at approx $2,500. I can cash out the rest or ....?

Please consider.

So I invited the Gentleman to my Fathers Home so that he could look at the watch. Before hand I told the Gentleman that I would be more then happy to meet him at any local Jeweler of his choice. But he never exercised that option. Upon arriving to the house he was suppose to meet us at 11am and after calling him he told me 1pm and then showed up at 2pm. As if I had nothing better to do then to wait on him all day.

After showing up he looks at the watch and Is looking at it and says wheres the green & white paper that comes with it. We don't ever recall it having a green & white paper but Im sure it was just misplaced. However I thought the watch was a 2005 model which after looking at a piece of paper we found, the watch was purchased 7-14-2004. He proceeded to tell me he thought it was a 2005 model. And said he wanted to make a call outside to his buddy that knows about watches.

As I look outside through the blinds he drives off and doesnt even have the odasity to say that he did not want to proceed with the deal. If he had any questions or was skeptical of this watch being 100% genuine Rolex he should have asked questions.

After he ran off I called Rolex Dallas to ask them what he was talking about
and they said that paper was a Warranty card and if the watch needed to be identified as 100% Rolex to bring it in.

Needless to say after all this I did not get my asking price for it but I SOLD it today. We took it to Dallas Diamonds in Mesquite and I told them what happen and they laughed and said that guy has no idea what hes looking at. Also theres no difference in the Rolex 16613 models until 2008 model there all the same we compared them to each other. And looked at Rolex's comparison booklets.

Well Dallas Diamond wrote a Check for 4,000 in about 2 minutes of looking at it LOL.

If the member that came to the house would like to place a post here I would like to hear his reasoning for his lack of Character. However I don't think the member will post.

Seems kind of dumb to invite a complete stranger, especially one off this site, to your dad's house, unless you don't like your dad or you/he have/has an awesome insurance policy and great documentation.

Hes been a member for 5 years. Im gonna give him the opportunity to explain himself if he will.

If he got cold feet because he thought the Rolex was fake, I damn sure wouldn't be inviting him to the house.

I just think it was poor character especially from a guy his age.

so the moral of the story is...

some one was selling a Rolex watch...and they don't know anything about the watch. Don't know what circa the watch was, the warranty paper, etc...

Come on...please!

By the way was it a TT blue submariner 16613? was it a D series (2005)? if so you got your ass screwed by Dallas Diamond. That watch is going for $5.5K at the moment.

Stainless steel 16610 submariner sell for $4-4.5K used.

Peace.

Then why haven't you talked to him on the phone or in PMs? You're being pretty chickenshit too imo.

Just for kick there are significant difference between a D series (2005) and a M series (2008) Rolex Submariner 16613.

Late Z series (2007) and M series (2008) have ROLEXROLEXROLEX engraving inner ring. And laser etch Rolex coronet on crystal at 6 o'clock position.

D series (2005) doesn't have items listed above.

Any other question would you like to ask about the 16613?

BTW I did call him and I left him a Message. I forgot to add that. I called 15 minutes after he bolted.

You're being chickenshit by involving the rest of us with this thread but not giving out his name. Non-chickenshit approach: handle this between the two of you through PMs or phone, or throw his name out for everyone to see so that we will know not to do business with him.

seriously, when I read "Rolex Deal Gone Bad", I'm thinking the dude bought a rolex that ended up being fake... or some dude took off with his Rolex.

this isn't a deal gone bad! this is a deal that didn't happen because the guy got a bad feeling about it and didn't want to insult you by telling you he had a bad feeling, so he split. You got more money for it by pawning it.

thread = fail

In the grand scheme of things, you are right. I've lost almost $50k from my 457B plan since the economy went into the shitter. I've got almost 25 years to make it back, and I'm sure I will, but to know your account has halved sucks.

I'm talking about guys that make 3 or 400 large a year. There are a lot of them. And dropping $4k on a watch wouldn't bother them. That's the target market of luxury consumer goods like this.
