Question Does everyone store their ammo in cans?

I'm planning on stocking up on some ammo and trying to figure the best place to store it. Does everyone use ammo cans? I've been checking out cheaperthandirt and they .30Cal, .50Cal, and 40mm cans at decent prices. Would anyone of these be better than the other for storing?
I'll be using them to hold .40Cal, and 9MM ammo. How much can one of these hold?

Thanks

I usually buy the big stuff for my AR and AK in 1,000 round cases, and I just leave them in the box.

My smaller pistol ammo is kept in the safe.

You can keep a lot of ammo loose in the cans, but you need a thick zip loc freezer gallon bag.

I have a lot of ammo in .50 cal cans and it works well. However as I've gotten older, whenever I buy ammo now, I just leave it in the box it comes in and just place it in my fire safe.

I just like keeping my ammo off the inside of the can where it can come in contact with less than perfect exposed metal/rust.

Try this place for ammo cans. They have the best prices for them. Just bought a few more today.

I just wish I still had ammo. My boat sank the other day with all of it onboard...

Corrosion or rust could start and spread like wildfire. Of course I'm exaggerating, but when you leave ammo in a can for a year or two and then want to go shooting, it is frustrating.

I use ammo cans. I like the 40mm cans more than anything else. Just because most of the shit I buy by the case, once the case is open the separate boxes store much easier.

But do use all other sizes.

I dont do the freezer bag thing and yet to have ammo rust on me.

If you have a decent case and the seal is good, your ammo will be fine. I'm just anal about my ammo except the stuff I run through my AK.

I just leave all my ammo in the box until I'm ready to shoot it.

I would think the big plastic ammo cans would work well, and wouldn't let rust get out of hand.

Give me a dollar.

I like Berry's for cheap ammo and MTM Case-Gard for my nice loads.

Case-Gard are nice enough to ship in.

The 50 cal boxes are what I see the most. How do the 40mm compare?
