When I was a wee lad, my dad strode around w/ something similar, but it was nickel with a rounded/contoured hammer, in his front pocket. He owned liquor stores in Port Arthur, and had been robbed a few times.

I like it, except for the laser grip. If they offered that model without it, id be all over it!

Ive still been eyeing the S&W 442s, but havent found a deal yet.

The laser grip is an option from Crimson Trace, it doesn't come with it.

March 1st is when they are available.

Retail prices are rumored to be around $525

Would it have killed them to chamber it for .357 Magnum? It's only what, .2" longer? Not that I'd want to shoot .357 in that little thing, but I'd like to know I could if I had to.

That looks like a neat piece. I'd rather have an 8 shot version.

You would have to go with a full size frame then. Kinda defeats the purpose of a pocket carry.

that's a very nice pistol, I have it in .357, and yes it's very painful. Why not get it with the crimson laser grip? With a barrel that shot, you want that kind of target acquisition.

This is a new design, the grips are supposed to compensate for the recoil. Apparently they used military spec ergonomics to reduce the recoil...so they say. 3 new patents on a J frame is a lot.

Ruger is infamous for annoucing new products and it taking months for the product to start shipping.

Either way it's a nice looking piece. I got my girl S&W Model 642 .38 special for her purse. It's a hammerless model so it doesnt get snagged on shit if she ever has to be used.

I don't like the way the cylinder is machined out around each individual round. Looks ugly.

Glad they didn't do that to the Taurus.
