at the very least you'll have a gun to fire whatever ammo is available

79 K5 blazer, 6" lift 38x15" tires d44/12b lockers and chromoly axles ,6.2L GM diesel - Waste Vegetable Oil conversion - cross over steering,14"SAW nitrogen shocks, beefed shackles, shackle flip, winch/ bumpers, diff covers.

94 CBR 600 naked, handbraked, -1 +3 sprockets, one wheel operation mod

"I'm sorry, nothing quite says, "F- You, I'm from Texas" like an all-business, stripped-down K5."

That is hill-arious! I do have enough ammo to be the War-Lord of AK's these days... I am working on another Aero-Precision Multi-cal receiver that is destined for 5.56x45.

Oh hail all that is cheap in ammunition as 5.45. Not a bad idea to grab something chambered in it and then buy 10,000 rounds of ammo while it's still dirt fucking cheap.

I wouldn't say "dirt" cheap. I remember buying 7.62x39 for $69/1000 just 8 years ago....

Well you're right, but in these days spending 250 for 2160 rounds of 5.45x39 is todays dirt cheap. You can buy 500-750 rounds of Barnaul/Silver Bear 5.45 hp ammo for at the range or hunting now.

Today "cheap" is a relative term.

I saw 5.45 ammo for $139/1000 rounds at Sportsman's Guide recently.

Thats not a bad price... I was wrong R-Guns sells it for $260 not $250 plus they include the spam can opener. So $130-140 is about right on a 1080 rounds. But when you add cost of shipping it can be $20-30 more. The last time I was at Military Gun Supply in Ft. Worth, they had Russian 5.45 fmj. for $169 per 1080 round spam can. They also had 7.62x39 Barnaul for $125 per 500 hp/fmj. Barnaul .223 sp ammo is going for $150 per 500 rounds.

We need to have the moderators post a sub-forum in the Armory for best deals on Ammo & Accessories.

those days are gone for now. Once the war is over and surplus starts to increase again we may see prices fall to those levels.
