Fits my hand very well, and feels very comfortable. I have not shot it yet, possibly tomorrow. I have shot the smaller version, and it shot very well, other than being a bit hard to keep a grip on. They get good reviews from what I have read.

That's what my wife carries. She loves it but the slide is a little stiff for such a small gun.

She scored a 237 on the CHL practical with it...so not bad.

The line was moving slowly, we werent in it for long. The place was shoulder to shoulder inside, though. I bought the last .40 that this guy had, and I went at 11 this morning.

Wade and I swung by around 9:30 and the line was out the door, snaked through the parking lot and all the way back to the parking garage. There must have been 300 people waiting. We are going to try and go tomorrow. Im wanting to pick up an XD40 or XD9 but screw that wait. Called Bachman Gun and Pawn and they wanted $500. Their price at the show last time around was $419

I think they were upper 4's, but I didnt pay attention to the XD's. The trigger safety thingy feels weird and unusual to me.

How firm are you on the .40? There's a .45 for what seems to be a good price in the classifieds:

Be careful.

.45 ACP and .45 GAP are different cartridges:

The .45 GAP is the same diameter as the .45 ACP pistol cartridge, but is shorter than the .45 ACP and uses a small-pistol primer, instead of the large-pistol primer as found in most commercial loadings of the .45 ACP. Originally, the maximum weight of the .45 GAP was 200-grain (13 g), and in order to provide terminal ballistics on par with the standard 230-grain (15 g) .45 ACP "factory loads" the .45 GAP was designed to operate at a higher standard pressure – roughly equivalent to the higher pressure found in the .45 ACP "+P" rounds. The designer was only able to achieve the desired pressure and resulting velocity through clever powder selection, since the .45 GAP has a much smaller cartridge volume than the .45 ACP. Later development concluded that the .45 GAP could in fact fire 230-grain (15 g) ammunition just as the .45 ACP

No problem.... Glad I could help! I have the same gun and love it. I saw it on Craigs List right after I read your post about wanting an XD40. You got a hell of a deal!
