I like it, have never seen one in person, but have always wanted a .45.

Let us know what you think of it Paul. I've never really cared for a double stack .45 myself, just seemed to "thick" for me.

A 1911 is single action, SINGLE stack, 45ACP. Para also makes a 9mm double stack "1911" which in both cases, in my opinion, is not a 1911.

Hey, gotta brake in the kid right and what better time than when the old lady is away. If you want, we can go to an indoor range and you can stay inside with the little man while I waste some of your ammo and give you my opinion on it

Seriously, find an indoor range and take the boy with you. What better chance to bond and get him into guns than while he's young Hell we can take turns watching him while trying out the new gun.

As far as being the same thickness as the 27 I'll have to reserve judgement when I can give it a try.

would you call it a 2011?

I've shot a couple of double stack .45's and the para is the least favorite of the STI, kimber and para.

i bought mine from academy 1/22/09. the mag falls out all the time. the gun has maybe 50 rounds through it. not happy with the customer service. i emailed inquiring if it may just be a weak mag catch spring and they just told me to send it in. not what the problem was or anything. when i get it back i will sell it and continue the glock, springfield, sig, ruger collection. i cant put my family at risk with a company who feels it is ok to ship knowingly faulty equip. just my .02

god bless.

yeah, no doubt. not good at all. i have been hearing bad things about para, but i thought for sure if they are selling their pieces for kimber prices then the bad reviews must be bs. but i don't know now. kinda turned off to para.

hell, my Taurus's have never failed me...

yeah man, look up para big hawg or something like that on youtube. there is a couple of videos of the mags falling out of others guns. i would expect for a $700 piece not to have these troubles. the $259 ruger p-95 i bought in 1996 never failed me once, unless you count it allowed itself to be stolen

i cannot decide to send it in to para or take it to a gunsmith to get it worked on. i like the idea of 14+1 in .45acp, and i love to gun. i just dont think i could ever trust it after such a massive fail first trip out of the case and to the range

god bless.

I think you had the right plan... send it to Para and let them fix it... if you dont like it when it gets back, sell it... I wonder what the hell happened and how they missed something like that... sounds like they had a bad batch go out...

I guess you could ask Para if they'd buy it back...

Send it back to Para and they'll fixed it.

I have a older Para P12-45 (Compact hi-cap 1911 Style Gun). Works fantastic and I like it.
