Yeah.
After my grandpa died a few years ago my grandma wanted his stuff to go to good use. I was given free reign on the garage and all the tools and stuff. We never could find some of his guns though. My grandma didn't know where they were and my dad though that he might have let one of his Knights of Columbus buddies borrow them in the past or something. Well they finally found some of them this weekend in the attic.

We also found out that one of my uncles has the Luger (complete with swastika inlay) that my grandpa brought back from Germany. My uncle has no real interest in it so my dad's going to pick it up soon.

Sorry about the G-pa, but at least its some of his cool stuff that went to family to keep for a while and enjoy.

We need some pics of the Luger when your dad gets it, very cool.

I like that .30-06. Those remingtons are pretty nice. When my uncle died a few years ago, we asked my cousin what he did with the guns, and he said, "aww, I just pawned 'em. They weren't worth anything." He took $300 each for a pre-war model 70 and an FN from the '60's with a great Bausch and Lomb scope. Lame.

EDIT: What I mean is, I'm glad they got to stay in your family.

Give me a dollar.

Yep, if by some chance it a capture weapon( I think thats the correct term) and you have the papers it will increase the value greatly!

I have a Walther P-38 its has been appraised at 1300.00 because the emblems ( eagle and swastika and inspection stamp and production factory stamp are all authentic) however if I had the papers it would be worth 50 to 60% more.

Like your Luger I inherited mine from a family member so I don't give shit what its worth its going nowhere!

Capture paper guns hold more value. Then if its a certain maker, serial number, range etc.

I have a bunch of P08s and P38s. Each one of them is different. Some are $600 guns others are $5k.

That's the gun (literally, same gun) I got my first deer with and now 11... 12... some number of years later it's mine. Kinda cool. You pretty much ruined a hypothesis a friend and I had though. We were convinced that every man who would eventually grow to appreciate guns was issued a Marlin or Winchester .30-30 at birth. Of all of my shooting buddies I know of only one who doesn't have one.

Slap on the ass --> cut the cord --> grab lever action --> suck tit.

LOLz! My dad didn't have one until a few months ago, and I still don't own a rifle.

Ha! Agreed that every man should be required to have one. That model rifle is, after all, the most recognizable firearm ever produced. Hmm, sounds like a good topic...

My boys already have their own bolt actions, but no lever action. Growing up I had one entry level piece of shit lever action bb gun, but that's about it. Dad never even taught us to shoot... That's sweet that yours took you hunting and that you ended up with the rifle you took your first with. Not many get to do that...

Tony, don't feel bad. Aside from various AK platforms and the CETME that I just got rid of, I didn't have any rifles either. Now I've got my first two in the .270 and 30-06.

<---stoked to finally have real rifles

Nice guns! Please post pics of the Luger when it arrives. Sorry to hear about grandpa. We're losing lots and lots of WW2 vets every day. My wife's grandpa is 92 and still alive. In WW2 he sent up balloons filled with explosives when they were expecting air raids. My wife's great uncle is also still alive, was in the Battle of the Bulge, and has the same Luger you describe. His life was saved in the 'Bulge by an anonymous US pilot who dropped a "buzz bomb" on the German sniper that kept him holed up for several hours in the cold snow. He almost lost his legs to the frostbite.

My wife once asked if he ever killed any of our enemies in WW2 and he smiled and said "Yep. I sent lots of 'em straight to hell!"
