Anybody into SKS's?

I have one that my brother bought for me a few years back, and I am about to start doing some mods to it.

I already have decided on a 30 shot clip, and a muzzle break, but the stocks that are available all look good to me.

Anybody have one, or can give some opinions on stock selection or choice?

TIA

Get something you are comfortable with.

Personally, the 10 shot internal (Factory) mag is the best. Get some stripper clips and your set.

I use one for a hog hunting gun. (I don't give a crap if it gets muddy or dirty.).

I kinda like the Monte Carlo stocks, But have my eye on something different. More sporty looking.

That scope mount is pretty flimsy, its very loose on there, I would recommend some others.

they are great beater guns. Guy whom has a lease on our land gave my dad one quite a few years ago as a gift. Still shoots well after all the abuse its seen.

What you might call solitude is something i look forward to.

The SKS is a beautiful rifle that should be left alone and not riced out.

Blanks, where for that cheep !!! would be coooll ! Love mine, rain, shine, mud or grime, sleet or heat, it don't care. Have a scope but didn't like any of the mounts so I made one to mount to the frame not the recever cover and it don't move around. I agree about the 30 rd clip, real hard to load, but fun. Ah the days of cheep 7.62 X 39, 1000 rd. / $62.00. Folding stock is fun. Better get one if you think you want one. Obamma Mama want's to ban them, again. Fun gun.

Good prices on ammo and fair shipping. Also Wideners.com has some good prices.

I am thinking about getting a folding, since I bought one pre-ban and it was stolen.

I am leaning towards the Dragonov(sp) type stock, too.

I might buy them both and see with one I like better.

I had my Dad's Norinco SKS converted from 10rnd internal to 30rnd mags.

He and my brother have them, 100$ once upon a time. I seen them for 200 for the Yugo one at Ammo Depot.

I think the stripper clips are the way to go. They are really cheap. If I had one, I'd stay with 10rnd internal. The catch on the 30rnd stinks. Hard to do one-handed.

500rnds of Wolf steel-cased, berdan-primed ammo is ~100$.

Trigger isn't that nice, but you can have it worked on.

There some places online that will machine them up to make them a more user friendly. But it doubles the price or more. I'd rather have a factory rifle for that much.
