I like the 180gr truncated cones. They penetrate pretty good. If you didn't want an expanding bullet, that might be the best design.

+1! Still using the old school Hydra-Shoks. I used to buy the Winchester Silvertips in boxes of 50 at Walmart whenever I could find them for cheap. Don't see them there anymore. Found some good deals on Winchester Ranger at CDNN for like $13 a box.

Some may work better for your gun than others.

Have to shoot them and find out.

I think almost every brand has a line of personal protection ammo.

Hornady Tap, Winchester SXT Ranger, Remington Golden Sabre, Federal Hydra Shock. They are basically a JHP with low flash powder.

I use Winchester Rangers. They are about half the price of the other brand name ammo. However, I put less effort into what ammo I use and more into learning how to shoot better.

I carry some Speer Gold Dots, but they were free

In my 9mm, I carry Federal JHPs...

Any premium defense ammo will work fine. Shot placement determines effectiveness.

I use .308 for home defense (and 2 neighbors to the left of me inadvertently).

The best defensive pistol ammo is either

Federal HST ammo or Speer Gold Dot ammo

Hydrashock is old school ammo and outdated.

So just find a 155 or 180 gr HST and have at it.
